Sick Cham

color

She goes back and forth in color: sometimes dark, sometimes pinky, but she hasn't gone back to the first day, when I assumed she was dead, myself. She's a nice cham, and knows when I put her in a critter keeper, that she is going out in the sun, which she loves. I don't usually handle her. Now she makes me want to cry because I have to pick her up a lot, and she actually clings to me. I really think she knows I am trying to help her. Just saying it makes me tear up. Today she kept opening her mouth for the Pedialyte. I usually have her head elevated so she can swallow everything at her pace. Once in awhile she will open her eyes, but not much. It's like handling a little weak ragdoll. I can only try. Thanks for your help, all.

Be careful she doesn't aspirate the food/pedialite/water when you're giving anything to her.

Does she have lights on at night?

It bothers me that she didn't eat much since she laid the eggs. I'm still concerned that it might be a reproductive issue.

Hope she makes it.

I'm rooting for her too. She's such a pretty little girl.

I was reading your past posts and felt bad. It's so hard to convey tone in forum posts. Try not to feel discouraged or read too deeply into the questions. We all understand that it is frustrating for a new member with an issue to be asked so many basic questions. They is just so much bad info out there, it really is necessary to narrow down the potential issue.

Carlton, kinyonga, olimpia, jannb, and the others who have responded are some of the most wonderful people we have here on the forum. For someone with so much passion and experience to be willing to help out as extensively as they do... We are all so much richer for their knowledge. This really is a great group of people on this forum. Hopefully, siren will make it through this.

light

All my chams sleep with their lights off! Yes, I am trying not to let her aspirate, that is why I try to keep her head elevated and watch her swallow. I keep worrying she won't make it through the night. I give her extra water before I tuck her in. It could be a reproduction problem. Her mouth is pretty green, though.

My girl passed

Well, I woke up early this morning to find that Siren's Song had passed away in the night. She fought the fight, but I am sad to say she just couldn't make it. I was shocked that she had gone downhill so quickly. I think it was a combination of liver failure compounded with reproduction problems. Yesterday her mouth was so green, but when she expired, it went back to yellow. Thanks for all the help. Leslie:(

I am so sorry to hear that your little girl didn't make it. :( I was really pulling for her. My heart goes out to you. My condolences.

I am so sorry for your loss as well - poor little Siren. You did everything you could. I have been reading the thread since your first post and was rooting for her. My thoughts are with you :(

Sorry for your loss. If you get a necropsy done you should find out what she died of. RIP Siren's Song. Keep her memories in your heart.

Nooo, I actually showed my family pictures of this chameleon and was so impressed with her progress between the pictures! I really thought she was going to make it!

Hi

Yes, I know; I had hope, too. It was such an amazing change! Well, I thank everyone for their thoughts and concerns. I still have 3 other pets to take care of, and I will get another female, soon. I need an other of breeding age, but not too old.

I am so sorry to hear about Siren's Song. You will both be in my thoughts and I know it is terribly hard to loss a pet and a friend.
