Leonard the chameleon is going to need a second surgery in a few weeks.
He had surgery already to remove an abscess on the ridge of his nose. Now he has a new one (or a recurrance?) in the tear duct of the side where the original abscess was.
Leonard was on antibiotics for 10 doses every 72 hours before and after his surgery... the new abscess came in the last few weeks.
A sensitivity was run, and supposedly the bacteria involved are sensitive to the antibiotics we used. The vet also said that in reptiles especially, bacteria can become immune pretty quickly.
Anyway, please send your happy thoughts our way, because the recuperation from surgery is no cup of tea for a cham. He was just starting to act "his" normal again. I was also hoping to do some tough-love and stop hand-feeding him for a few days, in the hope that he would feed himself. Now with the upcoming surgery, I can't do that, because he won't eat much after, and needs the extra meat on his bones.
*sigh*
