*sigh* the evils of superworms

Neelix has spent all afternoon staring into food bowl, waiting for superworms to appear. There's only crickets in there and that's just not good enough. The 2 locusts roaming the cage also live to see another day... He behaved like an angel for my friend, but as soon as I come back from holiday he goes on hunger strike! I know if I put supers in there, he will munch them all, but I'm trying not to give in.

Stay strong, my friend!! Supers are for the devil! :D ;)

Yeah don't give in to the little brat :D ha he will eat eventually just keep offering him anything other than Supers. He can go a day or two without food. :D

My girl did the same thing the first time i gave her mealworms! She just sat staring at the bowl all night with her puppy dog eyes! i felt so bad that I decided not to give her anymore again and I haven't :D

He got spoiled whilst I was away, a wax worm and a super worm every day, as well as locusts. Guess he got used to the star treatment! At first I thought he wasn't eating cos he's gonna shed but, yea, maybe he's just being a brat lol Yesterday it took hours to get him to eat a single locust, but when I put in a couple of super worms he gobbled them instantly!

My Rinty is a very stubborn boy, has held out for more than 2 weeks eating nothing before. He's not been hungry this week either (partly because I gave him a few mealworms at the end of last week). He's so desperate to be spoiled but he'll get no more food until he eats some crickets :D

My guy's only 6 months old, but he'll be ok if he doesn't eat for a few days? I know he's nearly at the stage where I cut back his food anyway.

I'm sure he'll be fine for quite a while. They can go a surprisingly long time without getting thin.......if he does a proper hunger strike in a few months you'll really know about it

Mine is doing the same thing right now. He used to eat his crickets like crazy, now he waits for a worm and will only eat his crickets if we hand feed him.

As much as I adore my chameleon & look forward to getting my new addition, they don't half give me a bloody headache! Lol never had such a challenging little critter to look after.

He'll be fine for a few days/a week without food as long as he is nice and healthy. I had my small 8 month old panther go on a 2 week strike for supers. I weighed him to make sure he didn't lose any weight but he was a stubborn little guy!

I feel your frustraion. I have a Nosy Be thats the same way when it comes to supers. Used to eat everything now wants nothing except the super. Every once in awhile he'll eat a large silk worm or two but no crickets, roaches, hornworms, cicada or katydids. He won't eat much even when he does eat. I've got 17 other panters being kept in the same way and have no problems with any of them. He really stresses me out.
