significant other shares interest

I just got my first Cham and mine is being tolerant, even interested sometime. I have no doubt though, that she'll be simply tolerant after manny gets settled in.

Funny story, I actually got our Chameleon for my bf's birthday, he had mentioned aseveral times when we were in the petstores that he really liked them and it would be neat to have one. So I did my research, found a great breeder in my area and brought home our little Ambanja panther...He's not as enthused as I expected him to be.
Long story short, is that the chameleon is pretty much mine now!
Moral of the story: don't buy a pet as 'surprise' unless you're 110% willing for it to become yours!
I was more then willing (I was actually a bit jealous that I wasn't able to get one for myself) so it all works out.
Now he does have a problem with my addiction which is completely out of control;) African Cichlids

i consider myself lucky bc my gf is as much of an animal freak as me
i have 2 chams right now and she loves them both
she has 3 turtles, some fish, and 5 frogs
i do most of the work for them because theyre all so cute

Well my husBand finally said yes to a Ball Python (he was terrified of snakes) then yes to a RTB then finally said no more snakes after another BP and RTB. We have quite a few other furs and fish and feathers already. We went to the show in Daytona and he was really interested in the Beardies. We discussed housing and care of these and a Veiled and settled on the Veiled at the end of the day. So from going to snake hater to snake holder and he even feeds them to agreeing a Veiled was a good choice this time around is a miracle. Now, he is reading about them on the internet an the other day I noticed his Chameleon wallpaper on his computer. I mentioned the Beardie since and I really think he is hoping for one for his birthday in Oct or a Christmas present. It is so much more fun now than he shares the interest and tells me what everyone is doing when I am not home. He insists they eat the best available and doesn't grumble about the expense. He just knows he has to set a limit for me because I would get everything critter I love and see! He even feeds the cham the crickets because I loathe to touch those things. I am getting better with different kinds of worms tho! Good thread!!

hey guys just wondering how many of you guys significant others share the love for this great hobby because mine has no interest in it at all she doesnt get it

Funny that you posted this thread. My husband does not share my love of chams and basically tolerates it. Sometimes I think he's even a bit jealous and I have been accused of loving my animals more than him. I'm pissed off at him today so he's right about that!

Got me thinking last night about a chameleon keeper's singles website. I can see it now - MUST LOVE CHAMELEONS's :p

LOL, my bf says the same thing, he asks who I love more, him or the fish, I say don't ask questions you don't want to hear the answer to!:p

My wife loves the chameleons, but not as much as she loves the snakes. Our son loves them all!!!!!! She had never had a pet before, ever! Then she married me and knew that I worked for a wholesaler before I started my "real person job". I will try to post a picture of us with all the animals.

My wife still says we cant get the monkey back that I used to have!!!!!!!

How many of the guys out there with wives have you on lock down?
No, I said NO! No more chameleons.
I swear, if you bring home one more lizard I'm going to buy a 300$ purse!

I have this happen all of the time, but it never stops me. She might have me on lock down, but we allways have room for one more.

Sounds like my life. My wife never liked them but put up with them because I was so into herps. After a while I started getting babies and some nice cash after selling them. After I bought her a few nice things with the "animal money", she stopped giving me those bad looks when I bring something new home. Now trying to get her to help feed off some crickets is the next step. I guess it doesnt matter cause once she finds out I have a colony of roaches in the garage im a dead man.:(

I don't have a boyfriend but my family don't really share my interest. They'll all hold the chameleon but they cannot stand when a cricket escapes. I try to tell them I can't help it, it isn't that I'm not being careful and it happens to all rep owners - crickets are little buggers. They love the cham but not what it eats!

HAHAHAHA!

Howdy,

I'm in lock-down :(... And it was a $460 purse that she bought while in Paris .

In the Orient, crickets are considered good luck. That's how I justify my escapee's. :)

460 for a purse ouch ! women

Come on now give us a little more credit. Not all women equate their worth by how many of a designer's apparel and accessories that they posess. The most single expensive thing that I've ever purchased was my chameleon and all his goodies.

Oh yeah, there is one thing I've paid more for.... my car (and it was used).

That will be me someday hahahah!!! I'll put my pets before my man! haha nah jk... Well maybe... lol

Most asian cultures consider most reptiles as a sign of luck and prosperity. That's why family doesn't really care how many snakes and lizards I have. My mom use to tell me when she was little they loved it when a snake would come into their house. :D
