Silk worm project!!

 That's a LOT of cocoons! Mine are really getting to me now, I even dreamt about one of the moths last night, lol! It wasn't a moth though, it was a tiny white mouse with wings!:rolleyes:

 Wow! That's one heck of a lot of eggs there, lol! Just imagine how much food they will get through?!?! Hehe!

Haha they're going to be hatched as a needed basis haha I still have 5lbs of chow so I'm hoping that gets me through until I can find some mulberry leaves

I am also panning in hatching them at different times through the year, but less at a time than I had hatch in December to make it more manageable. I only have two chams so don't need a whole lot of silkies at once! I buy the powdered chow and make up a little at a time, and I have a currently dormant Mulberry tree in the garden. It is only a small one , but some worms will be raised on the leaves come summer!

Yeah it'll be nice to only hatch out 50-100 or so at a time I just hate the expense of the chow so summer mulberry will be nice!

Well I only have this many cocoons left to hatch out

And this is how many are empty haha

:p

Well for experimenting purposes I pulled out about 100 eggs today we'll see if they hatch been a little under a month what do you guys think?

I have decided to start breeding silk worms but I am waiting for Summer for the mulberry Tree we have to get its leaves. I can't wait! :D The pictures and videos are awsome!

Your silkworms got huge! Looks like you did a great job growing up your worms. Thought I would share an idea I had that worked really well for me. This allowed me to grow out baby silks from eggs and was much easier to keep them clean and separated from their waste as they ate the chow. I had nearly 0 die off with this method. Let me know what you think.
