Silkies

I just hatched my first batch of silk worms and have the food I got from coastal silkworms. My question is is this food good enough for gutloading? I have dry gutload from smcnary and lots of dandelion greens that are untreated with pesticide. Should I mix everything or just stick with the food that came with them.

from what I've read they only will eat mulberry leaves or a mulberry feed. I always get the mulberry chow when I order some silkies and it lasts just about as long as the advertisement says

The hatchlings will only eat the mulberry stuff, and you have to put them ON it!! They will not crawl far to find their food.

I've been using the cut-the-corner-off-the-baggie trick, and piping out little noodles of silkworm chow. It works great. They end up with dry food jungle gyms, so the poop falls to the bottom. I haven't touched them or moved them at all, and so far no die off. I just add more food over the top, and they move up. Once they get a little bigger, I'll move them to a shoebox sized sterlite box with gutter guard, but for now, I'm very pleased with how it's going. Good luck with your silkies. :)
