silkies?

You don't need to use the netting technique, it just makes it easier to clean up thier bin. I dont always use it either.

When I do my silks, I get 200-500 smalls. I place 1/6" x 3/4" strips of chow running the length the bin, then cover the silks with a sheet of wax paper to keep the chow moist for 2 days. When the chow is almost gone I remove the wax paper and allow the chow to completly dry out, then remove the silks for a bit clean and repeat. That method works well and virtually no chow goes to waste. When I empty the bin the droppings are dry and the remaining bit of chow drops out with ease. The most important thing to remember with silks is to "keep it clean". The silks have a very weak immune system and any bacteria will wipe out the whole colony in an instant. Just be sure to wash your hands and equiptment before it comes in contact with the worms and thier chow.
