Silkworms as a staple feeder???

:confused:so i ordered some silks and hornworms from mulberry farms... everybody and their mothers on this forum swear that the chameleons will eat these any and every time offered... not mine... my veiled has only eaten about 6 all together and now the tub of silkworms has devoured their food and none of my reptiles are eating these... i have a beardie, geckos, pacman frog and the veiled.... why dont they like them?

Do you hand feed? Are they too big? Or too small? Sometimes size matters and they get picky.

You can always send them to me! :D

Are they moving a lot? Are you putting them down and watching them, waiting for them to eat?
Perhaps you should set some down and leave, then come back. If anything, I'll take 'em. LOL!

edit: Pssh and I are hivemind.

they are not too big. not even full grown. and no i put them in a cup under his perch and chill around the house and when i check the cup later on the worms are still there.... this is boggling me... like i said though.. none of my reptiles are eating them. and arent most reptiles supposed to go crazy for them?

Most chameleons like them when they sit on the biovine branches. They get all move-ey and wiggly.

tried that too... they were spread out through his cage and they were on branches and vines and the hibiscus... eating the leaves even! maybe he just dont like em?

oh no!!! he hates me. jk he is just super territorial. cant hand feed for the life of me. but he has munched superworms before...

mine doesn't like them either. nor does my pacman frog or geckos. only my toads, but they eat anything.

my beardie only hand feeds!!! lazy bastard. and yeah i have put them on the screen. and thanks ballin i dont feel so bad now... must be just my lizard.

Even the beardie won't eat one from your hand? Odd. The hornworms didn't get his attention either?

im letting the hornworms grow a little more... and yeah. when the beardie didnt eat one i got worried.... they are regular, reverse zebra, and regular zebra silks... they sent mix bunch... dont know why...

Is it possible that your reptiles are intimidated by the size of them? Also, maybe they eat a large sized one and it filled them up for a while making them not hungry.

they arent even full grown though... the silkies that is. and my veiled is about 10-11 mos so he should still have a growing boy appetite.... he loves crickets and roaches and he will eat a few supers. just not the silks. gonna try the horns when the get big enough... i'll keep you posted
