Silkworms

I have not been able to find a current source for silkworms. Everywhere I look, they seem to be out of stock or only offering eggs for sale.

Does anyone know where they might be currently available?

Thanks!

I had this same problem a little while ago. Fortunately, I caught a thin window of time when Mulberry Farms did have some available. I would recommend emailing Mullberry Farms to ask them when they will be having some available. That is what I did. If not, you could just wait it out. Or buy eggs, if you're patient enough to incubate and let them grow. Whatever you chose to do, good luck.

Try the silkworm shop....also get some eggs they are so easy to hatch and you can regulate their growth by how much you feed them so you can keep them around a bit.

I always buy eggs. Doesn't seem like I can get them in stock as well. Eggs are very easy to hatch. Just wish they were sold in smaller qty.

I started buying them from Colorful Cocoons. She breeds them all herself and sells food, too. The eggs are fine to buy, they will hatch out within a short time and they grow pretty fast.

Get another chameleon or three!

I will share my excess with someone nearby who also has chameleons. I'll be hatching a lot, trying to keep really tiny ones on hand for chameleons expected to hatch in a few weeks. If I have any excess that my friend can't use, I'll just feed them to my chickens.

I found Colorful Cocoons online and wow thanks for that info chamsarecool. There are in my state, how cool is that to have someone that close to me. Although my cham is not a fan of the silkworms, in fact I can't get any of my reptiles to eat them.

mulbery farms had a window of about 3 months that they had them in stock, unforunately mine all got sick or contaminated by foreign insects so I had to throw them away....luckily I have a bunch of eggs that im going to attempt to raise on my mulberry tree I have growing in my apartment. April, May, and June were the best months for availability to keep in mind for next year, otherwise try your hand at the eggs. If you buy them in bulk you can refrigerate them and just hatch as many as your chameleon will eat, like im going to try to hatch about 20 eggs at first, not all of them

Group buying with locals is always beneficial. You can even leave an ad at local mom & pop pet stores for people to go in with you. Heck, some stores might even join you. A local store started hatching their own eggs after I mentioned it to them. Never give up on feeder varities. I was a moth junkie, but currently seeing the benefits of blue bottle and household flies. Talk about cheap great feeders.

I use backwater reptiles and they sell them in shipments of 50, 100 and 150 online. I will warn you they are expensive
