Well, today it's been so warm and sunny here in the UK, I thought I'd let Amy have her first taste of sunlight in the garden. I have a 12" square wire carry cage, so I thought she'll be alright in there with a stick to perch on. After bribing her out of her cage with food, I let her climb in the cage and carried her outside. I sat with the cage on my lap for about 5 minutes and she flattened herself and looked really happy!
I didn't want her to get too hot as she's still really little, so I carried the cage back indoors, but, as I moved she decided to freak out and try and escape! She kept poking her face through the bars, and before I had chance to open the cage door, she had worked out that she can turn her head to an angle of 45 degrees to fit her casque through! She then proceeded to squeeze her way out of the cage through the bars! Poor little girl ended up with bruises on her arm and side!
I'm just glad that I didn't leave her outside alone in the cage! Guess I'll have to send hubby up into the loft to find out the old hamster cage which has smaller gaps in the bars! I won't be putting her back in that cage for a while - at least not until her head has grown a bit more! Silly Amy!
