Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

Willard has been sleeping during the day more frequently. I started noticing this about 2 weeks ago although it was mostly like an hour or so before he normally fell asleep so I didn't think much of it. His eating habits were regular up until about 3 days ago along with sleeping for over half the day. When he wakes up in the morning he moves around for about 3 hours then just sleeps the rest of the day. This has been going on for about 3 days now. Normally I dont worry too much about the eating habits because when he gets close to a shed he stops eating for about 2-3 days, however now it is accompanied by the sleeping during the day and the reddish/pink urate. The closest rep vet isnt open until monday and im really strapped for cash(im going to take him in regardless), about how much does a normal vet visit usually run you guys and what type of tests do you think I should get done?

your cham could have parasites so when you get him to a vet try and bring in a fresh poop and have your vet run a fecal test. Put it in a zip lock bag on a wet paper towel so it does not dry out. Lethary, sleeping during the day and smelly poop are all signs of a parasite. It could be something else, but the symptoms you named are common with parasites.

So Willard hadn't eaten for about a week straight. I took him to the vet the day after xmas and got his fecal tested which they did find parasites. The pharm was closed until today, so I just started giving him his medication. I had been trying to feed him crickets for the entire week and he wouldn't even seem interested. Finally today I bought some superworms and he ate 5  im wondering if he just got too used to superworms and wouldn't eat the crickets or if he finally just got hungry. Regardless I hope the meds make him feel better and hopefully I can get him back on a cricket diet. Does anyone know of anything other than crickets I could feed him and a website that is reliable?

Glad you got Willard to the vet.
Sometimes, if they're not feeling well, a favorite food will tempt them to eat.
What kind of parasites did the vet find?
Which medication is he on?
Are you in the USA?
If so, Mulberry farms has a good variety of feeders

He wouldn't eat today so I couldn't trick him into giving him his medication, I had to use a credit card to get his mouth open which I felt really bad doing but it seemed to be the only way. I tried to be as gentle as possible. Hes on fenbendazol, im not sure the name of the parasite but I do remember the vet saying they are common in chameleons and are harmless unless in large quantities which I guess they found. I am in the US and will give that website a look because I dont know how soon he will go back to eating crickets.

Glad you found out what was wrong. Parasites are what I suspected from his symptoms. Hopefully he will be back to normal in no time with the meds. They can get addicted to supers and will turn down all other food! I know you are glad he is eating and I don't blame you at this point, but you might have trouble breaking his super worm habit!! Good luck and keep us updated on his progress.

As Carol5208 said, they can get spoiled with the supers and refuse other foods.

Having parasites often affects their appetite and sometimes the medicine does as well.
Often, after a few days of medicine they become more interested in food again.

Sometimes even local stores carry the Phoenixworms or Calciworms, if you need some food in a hurry.
These squirm a lot and are high in calcium, so they could be a nutritious and tempting food for him to have right away.
