Sleeping veiled chameleon.

If you'd like ill put a link to pictures of my veiled, the setup, and the light fixtures and stuff so you can get a rough idea on what to get.

Its no problemat all, Everyone here just wants to help. I will post the pics tonight since my camera wasn't working last night

Have you been using repcal with or without d3 and how often? There are three supplements you need to be using. I don't know but I am not sure if I like the way your chameleons limbs look in that first pic. It could be casue it is upside down. Take some more pics if you will. Does she climb around ok and did she have a good grip before she got sick?

Sorry that it is a link and that they are kindof not the best pictures. But just wanted to tell you that my girl had a calcium deficiency when I got hwer which is the cause of the little dent/bend in the one spot on her casque, it has since improved a little bit and has not gotten worse at all.she's also starting to shed so her colors are kinda dull and bad compared to normal, ill post a pic when she finishes the shed. https://picasaweb.google.com/112223574612271896265/DropBox

i only use the repcal without d3 what else should I be using? I will take more pictures in the morning when she wakes up, before she was sick she had excellent grip, like freakishly strong... hehe. She never had a problem with it before but it has been getting weaker since the day I noticed her problems.

Oh no, I just went to double check the repcal and it is the one with d3, i've been giving her this since i got her! I've been doing it every other day that I feed her... How bad is this?? I feel awful...could this be part of the reason she's sick??

I looked into her cage early this morning to check on her and it seems she has gotten much worse overnight. I have her in my hand now, barely hanging in there...The only way I know she's alive is from her soft breathing. I had a vet appt for this afternoon but its very unlikely she'll make it to then... I feel so horrible that she went through this because of me... but I really appreciate everyones help regardless. Thank you all for your time and advice and I'm really sorry for neglecting her like this...

My Male Veiled was doing a similar thing and the VET was certain of MBD, we did calcium drops, baytril jsut in case and I hand feed him for 2 months. while slowly getting him to work his tongue little by little. the biggest change I made was my lighting and temps. I had spiral based UV Lights, and they certainly did not work good enough. I too kevery ones suggestion and moved to tube and got a LIVE plant in his cage. after about two months he got back to being his comedian self and bonded very much to me. he is doing great now. but now I need a bigger habitat for him as he doubled in size.

She is suffering from a severe calcium deficiancy and most likely a Vitamin A deficiancy as well. From the description she is already egg boud, surgery may be only option, also dont palpatae unless you know exactly what your are doing. you can do serious damage to internal organs. she needs professional help asas. good luck

Sorry it took me so long to reply. My poor girl had passed a few hours after my last update. I'm absolutely heartbroken and it makes me feel so horrible that I most likely caused the suffering. I'm not planning on getting any more chameleons in the future so as to not put anything through this again. I miss her so much and I wish I could've helped her more...

Sorry to hear that she passed...but at least she isn't suffering any more.
Chameleons are addictive and you may change your mind in the future.

I am very very sorry to hear that :( and if you do ever get another one, just make sure you have everything you will need and that everything is how it needs to be with her cage/diet

If it's any consolation, it sounds like you did a pretty good job apart from a little more research. There's a lot of good advice on this forum. Chameleons aren't really for beginners, have you kept lizards before? If only you had a thermometer and the right vitamins there would be very little wrong. A bit more variety in the food department, and a bit less handling would have been advisable. Good luck for the future with your pets because you'll certainly try lizards again :)
