Just thought I'd share a picture I took of my little female veiled, Lua, sleeping :) She's awfully cute.

really? someone tried telling me she looked a little big for 3 months as my guess. I want to buy a male next week, so I had to estimate a good age and size so If I introduce her to a male he will be a similar size and wont eat her. Thanks!

Well she Is still small and young. She was already In a cage with a male at the store i bought ehr from. I want to try and see If they will get along, thats why I want them the same age. And If they do not work well together than I will seperate them with spare cage

Well, Lua is very sweet :). How old is Lua?

Also, the thread has been sort of hijacked, but it is important to say that it really is not a good idea to get a male to put in with your female. As babies it is not so important, but they will compete and get stressed. If you have a spare cage then use that - otherwise don't get one. Veileds are very territorial - it is very, very rare to find that they will get along.........and you would need one huge cage to make it work........

Lua is between 2 and 3 months old. She is a little baby :) She's gonna be a pretty lady.

I agree with everyone else, don't cage them together. I am hesitant to keep any herp in groups. The only things I've kept in groups were small toads and tree frogs.

sorry Emily, i didn't even notice there were two different picture posters on this thread, they are such a similar size. Lua is very pretty though[:

Sorry,

yeah sorry I didn't mean to go off topic with your thread, I just made my account last night and needed quick opinion on my veiled age. Yes I know veileds are super territorial and thats why I have an extra cage, I dont believe supervised visits between the two Is harmful at a young age. I know my female veiled was especially upset when I put another female chameleon In the cage with her, who was 4 months older. It was a senegal chameleon, and I made that mistake before I knew anything about chameleons.

My first cham was a Jackson's that passed recently and taught me a valuable lesson about taking chams in for checkups instead of waiting until it is too late.
Lua and Perl, my female panther, are my 2nd and 3rd chams that came to me in a trade. I've learned a lot here and I'm doing much better for them :)

I didn't mean to be jerky if that's how I came across. I was just confused lol.

I would be careful with supervised visits with chams of the opposite sex as they can become "conjugal visits" and that could be harmful if the female is too young. As far as I understand, veileds are solitary and don't need playmates. I would say I don't know how it would benefit them and they might be better off alone. Idk if anyone has had a different experience with playtime.

My current Chams are my 2nd and 3rd as well (unless you count the one I only had for 2 months and swapped for a female). All mine have been Veileds but I really want one with horns for my next one, lol

Well my visits I speak of would most likely take place In a year when they are physically mature to breed< my plan exactly. I love baby chameleons <3 =P

I'm going to breed my two as well. Have just recently had a first batch of infertile eggs........it's better to let her get her first batch out without mating, and give her plenty of time to recover. I know you have a lot of time before you chams are ready to do your research, but here's an older thread with some food for thought.....https://www.chameleonforums.com/some-thoughts-breeding-2612/

Oh yeah Im aware, no worries I have obsessed over chameleons for years this will only be the first time i will breed chameleon withins the first year of their sexually maturity.
