Ohhh ok maybe because he was chilling out under his uvb light. But he has a good appetite and eats whenever I give him his food. although I have seen him close that one eye but not both at the same time and he does rub it on his branches sometimes.

Ever since I’ve got him I noticed he’ll briefly close his one eye, I have never seen the other one closed and I don’t think he closes both of them at the same time because when I try to see if the other one is closed it’s usually not and he opens them back up cause he sees me. Thank you I’m trying to make sure I have everything how it should be for him hahah, what are the small changes tho? But yeah I probably should since it’s been going on for a while. If my local vets office takes chameleons would that be good enough or would I need to find someone that specializes in reptiles? Cause it shouldn’t be do difficult to figure out what might be wrong and specialist are probably mad expensive hahaha

Expand the thing. I do recommend you add more foliage! Yes he needs a vet that’s experienced in chameleons, your vet probably doesn’t know much on his care so I don’t recommend it. Check ups run around $60+ and fecals $40+ (Based on vets I called when I was searching) Depending on what the problem is (if any) then the money prices vary from there. Well if the vet doesn’t know anything about chameleons than it can be difficult, their knowledge and whatever they would prescribe or say is the problem may not be accurate or safe. Do you think I can see a picture of the entire enclosure?

It wasn't sarcasm. Like most everyone else, I don't see anything wrong either.
I agree that you're overthinking it, and I was trying to lighten things up a bit.

From subsequent discussion, IF there's a problem (which I'm not sure there is) it could be a bit of debris in the conjunctive sac—most likely the one that appears slightly bulged, or the skin slightly tighter.

This is very common in chameleons, and usually resolves itself within a few days or less. If not, the first thing I'd try is misting more frequently for a couple days (offset by shorter duration) to give him more opportunity to hydrate and resolve on his own.

If it persists for more than a week—or worsens—I'd consider having it looked at.

This has come up quite a few times in the archives.

1. I gut load with collard or carrots and I’ve been trying to stick to staple feeders right now and since fly larvae are small I’ll give him 5 cause that probably equals like 4 crickets hahah. But I don’t weight him I don’t have a scale for that.

3. ive gotten just one fecal test done and I’ve only had him with me for almost 3 months hahah so no x-rays or blood work have been done I haven’t had that many problems hahaha.

5. He has a basking branch for the basking bull and has a branch under the uvb light he liked to sit under too, the uvb is like 7inches below it. And the brand is zoo med and it like 3 months old

7.depending on the day I leave it in during the day but I have it in at night. It’s a warm mist and it’s outside of his cage but my room is fairly large so it’s hard to get it higher then 70% at night. I clean it once a week and I just follow the directions that came with it. The hygrometer is a dial and it’s in the middle of his cage.

It wasn't sarcasm. Like most everyone else, I don't see anything wrong either.
I agree that you're overthinking it, and I was trying to lighten things up a bit.

From subsequent discussion, IF there's a problem (which I'm not sure there is) it could be a bit of debris in the conjunctive sac—most likely the one that appears slightly bulged, or the skin slightly tighter.

This is very common in chameleons, and usually resolves itself within a few days or less. If not, the first thing I'd try is misting more frequently for a couple days (offset by shorter duration) to give him more opportunity to hydrate and resolve on his own.

If it persists for more than a week—or worsens—I'd consider having it looked at.

This has come up quite a few times in the archives.

Ok thank you lol hes always seemed to itch his right eye and close it once an a while since I got him so idk if he’s got an issue with his eye or something

Expand the thing. I do recommend you add more foliage! Yes he needs a vet that’s experienced in chameleons, your vet probably doesn’t know much on his care so I don’t recommend it. Check ups run around $60+ and fecals $40+ (Based on vets I called when I was searching) Depending on what the problem is (if any) then the money prices vary from there. Well if the vet doesn’t know anything about chameleons than it can be difficult, their knowledge and whatever they would prescribe or say is the problem may not be accurate or safe. Do you think I can see a picture of the entire enclosure?

So your going to need plant lighting... Ficus will struggle at first they do not like to be messed with and move. They sometimes will drop all leaves before they settle.

Any plastic in the bottom you want to remove. This is risky for a chameleon in case they crawl between it. The exo terra black vine has to go. These are high risk for pieces coming off which is a common issue for chams and eyes since they will rub on their branches.


When you mist is he awake? I ask because panthers can sometimes be more open to actually cleaning their eyes when you mist. If he has something in the eye and has not been able to clean the eye this can be an issue for him removing it.

Oh ok, yes definitely needs more foliage. Remove the exo terra vines the coating comes off easy and if your cham were to rub its eyes it’d get in his eyes. I think you should remove the plastic, you can get a feeder/make one and attach it to one of the walls, also you may need a grow light for the plants especially the ficus. This is just an idea.

Ahh yeah I’ll probably get something different then a ficus and I have the plastic covering the plant so the water from the dripper won’t kill it but I’ll remove it and keep the bowls to catch the water cause if I don’t my plant will die or I’ll end up with a flood on the bottom of the cage everyday hahah.

And I put that branch in there breifly because I need to go get some more branches to put on the bottom and he doesn’t really climb on it anyway which’s is good.

Thank you! What are good ways to attach the plants to the sides of the cage because the lattice is kinda flimsy and won’t support plant pots? But I use the bowls to catch the water from the dripper, he doesn’t eat from them or go near them hahaha I hand feed him instead

How does he react to the mist? Does he hide from it or stay put like he wants to be misted? How long are you misting for each time?
