Those are molding because they are most likely infertile. Once they get fuzzy, take one out and cut it open. Odds are you'll only see yellow cream. That means it was not fertilized. If there is pink inside, it was fertile and went bad for some reason. Pretty typical, because infertile eggs are usually smaller than fertile eggs.

I thought they might have been infertile or something went wrong but wasn't sure if they would still hatch. so small eggs are infertile or went bad and won't hatch?

not the size

Never be discouraged with size. I have had tiny eggs hatch out with completely normal babies. Just watch for yellow eggs or fuzzy eggs.

No, small eggs can hatch just like all the other bigger eggs. But when they are small, they are suspect so I keep an eye on them. Then if they start to mold like yours with the blue spots, then I remove them and cut them open to confirm if they were infertile. 99 percent of the time, they are.

So, small is not a problem unless they mold and I would say that most of the time when I see small eggs, they are also not as firm as the good ones and mold within a few weeks. But I always give them a fair shot before removing them.

Good luck.
