Whats up guys I'm a completely new chameleon owner. About a week ago my girlfriend surprised me with a male veiled chameleon. Meet Smaug

The pet store that sold it to her knew nothing about him including sex (i did my own research) and age. Im slowly but surely getting questions answered by doing research but a couple things i wanted help with:

How old does he look? (his body length is approx 3.5-4")
Should i be feeding him until he's not hungry? Ive read mixed opinions
The best way to travel with cham (just a couple hour trips not very often)
When will his colors come out?

So he does have the spurs on the back of his back feet? I cannot tell from the pictures. Yes, you can pretty much feed him what he wants at this age. He is a growing boy! I travel with mine to the vet in a little bird cage with a couple of branches or vines attached for them to perch on. I would say by about 6 months or even maybe a little before you should start seeing some coloring.

My veiled is 5 months now and shed last week and his colors are really starting to show now.

Yeah the spurs are very noticeable in person. i traveled with him in his cage and he did not appreciate the ride. I'm wondering if it'd be better to put in a small dark place so the vibrations and scenery don't affect him as much
