What type of container are you housing them?Anyone that's bred snails before just checking I'm doing this right. I put them in a container with 3 inches of organic soil, then I mist them a couple times a day?
Thanks!
Just a Rubbermaid container about 2x1x1 feet. What type of container are you housing them?
If you use egg shells make sure you bake them in the oven at 350° to kill solmenila bacteria!Be sure to add either egg shells or cuttle bone for a calcium source.
Excellent. Clear sided, opaque, or non see-through??Just a Rubbermaid container about 2x1x1 feet.
It's opaque and I've been using cuttlebone . How often do you guys mist? Any tips to get them to breed or does it just happen lol?Excellent. Clear sided, opaque, or non see-through??
Lol!!! How long of a misting session?I don't think they need Barry White and candles. Mist 1-2 times daily.
Awesome, thanks!Yep. Lots of fresh food ( Dark green leafy veggies, carrots, cucumber and a cuttlebone) and just make sure the soil doesn't get too dry. Keep it damp, but not soggy.
I keep my snails in a 10 gallon tank, with a screen top. Within a few weeks they'll lay eggs. I carefully scoop the eggs out and place them in a deli cup full of soil with a lid with holes. Keep the soil damp and store it in a warm place ( around 75 degrees) - in about 3 weeks snails will hatch.
eBayWe're do you guys purchase the snails from?
On eBay you search live garden snails and a ways down there's some from a guy in Greece. Like 8$ for 10 of them, as opposed to snailsinthemail.com where you need a permit and they're 50$ for 10.We're do you guys purchase the snails from?
