Ok so I was outside today trying to move all 900 of the baby praying mantis that hayched into soemthing more mantis proof because some how they keep getting out and Im finding them on my walls......Anywhos So I decide to take Mr Ester out to hang out on his plants and brought Yoshi out too in his cage. After being out there for about 45 minutes Yoshi started showing some super cool stripes on him and was cruising his cage when suddenly Mr Ester spotted him. He moved faster than I have ever seen him move and shot his tounge out and tried to eat Yoshi:eek: Of course Yoshi was protected by the screen of his cage but it still scared the crap out of me. The crazy thing is Mr Ester tried to shoot his tounge at him like 3 more times, I moved him across the porch and he kept coming back and trying again until finally I just took him inside since he couldnt not behave.......

Oh wow.....i saw a video of a cham eat another cham and it was psychologically disturbing. I think we as humans tend to personify our chams and give them "human emotions" so something that would normally be a natural instinct for your cham, is veryyyy bad, to us. None the less i'd freak out if i saw one of my chams try to eat another one, mainly because cannibalism isn't an accepted norm for humans, but its rampant in the wild world.

Yoshi probably reminded him of the yummy Anole he had. He was just doing what chameleons do in nature. Definitely keep them out of sight of each other.

Thats what I was thinking he was having flash backs of the anole he ate!! LOL I would be so so so sad if he ate my little baby yoshi though:(

Mr Ester just wants to be friends with Yoshi. Why don't you take them both out of their cages and let them walk around together. just kidding. Hope they like the silkworms Codi and If you can please send me a P.M. that would be awesome.

Bet he thought Yoshi looked tasty! When my cat eyes up Lily I tell her 'Leave Lily alone - you don't eat family!' I could never have a pet that eats something else that I would keep as a pet (eg. snakes). I would feel so mean feeding mice to a snake I wouldn't be able to do it! I have been known to rescue mice from the cats in the past!:rolleyes: I'm just a big softie, really!:D Why does nature's way have to be so cruel?!

Life as a smaller member of the food chain can be perilous. ;)
Glad the screen was in between! :)

That video wasn't so disturbing as it was evidence of Darwinian principles in action.

You knew that was a possiblity when you got Yoshi, good thing you didn't take any chances. I think I would keep your son away from Mr. Ester, he is turning into the ultimate eating machine

Just remember - they don't think of it as cannibalism or "eating family". They're thoughts are probably more along the lines of "Hey, I'll bet that moving thing will fit in my mouth! Let's try!" (And in the case of my salamander, the "fit in my mouth" clause doesn't apply either; "It's moving! Food!")

Yea he is a big eater now!! I havnt been able to get him to eat anything but the silkies I just got in the mail!! And they are all gone now:p I think he wnats another anole.....Im thinking of maybe giving him one in a couple of weeks(without nova around!):p
