I have a female veiled, Piper, that is approximately a year and 4 months old. Right now she is housed in a medium screen cage but I just bought the XL cage to move her into. The plan was to move her into the larger cage as soon as I finished setting it up but recently (about the past 3 days) she has had been continually showing her darker spotted markings. This is really abnormal for her, and it makes me nervous that she is keeping this coloration for so long. The only time she lightens up is when she sees me or when she's sleeping. I tried to get a good picture but every time I come near her cage she lightens her markings. Also, the past two times she pooped were more liquidy which is abnormal for her.

Do you think I should move her into the new cage when she is like this or should I wait to see if her mood improves? She has not appeared gravid or receptive yet do you think this is her starting? Also I'm currently using a small coiled uvb bulb but want a longer one for the larger cage does anyone have any recommendations on brands?

Thanks so much in advanced!
I'll add pictures of what she normally looks like and of how she's looked the past few days after she saw me (so lightened up) When she is by herself her spots are completely black. Is there anymore information that would help determine what is going on?

Do you currently have a lay bin in there for her?

I just bought a reptisun t5 HO 10.0 for my male veiled and I notice he has better colors and hangs out under his uvb more since I put it in. A lot of members seem to like the Arcadia bulbs but I just bought the reptisun because I didn't want to wait any longer and wanted to get it immediately. I'll look into getting an Arcadia bulb when I switch this one out.

Thanks for the advice on the light! And no I don't have a lay bin in her current cage, but I have one ready for her new one.

Wow, her nails are really long, does it cause any allergies? What are the dimensions of her enclosure?
