Jann, not to hijack your thread but this seems like a good opportunity to ask....
when i let Stanley have some FR time he never wants to stay in the tree. after a couple of hours he's always trying to come down out of it. the other day i left him in it for a bit then came back to find him on the back of the kitchen table chair.... it's a 5' tall fake ficus in front of a large window with vines and sticks stretching out the width of the window. i even place a lamp over it for basking.....
do you have any thoughts as to why he wants to come down...

If I May ask, how in the world do you keep track of them all? I mean does the dog not mess with them? Do they not disappear? How nice are they? I can't even coats mine out his tiny 24" x 36" cage, he is a lil devil though. Always biting me and lunging at my hand!! So with all those questions I asked I just want too tell you, Awesome Job!

They all get along and the dog is nice to all the chameleons. They are all very friendly and have always been around eachother some since hatch. They all roam from time to time, some more that others. The girls rarely roam unless it's time to lay eggs.

Lisa, There's no way to keep Stanley from getting out of his tree. As he gets older he will settle more. When you are not watching him I'd recommend a cham proof room where you can shut the door and just be careful when you open the door because he could be right behind it.

Free ranging is not for everybody. You have to be a very responsible keeper with allot of time to properly care for your chams and the FR.

BTW, how do you keep your chams from wandering around the house? I have always wanted to do a free range setup for my veiled but am nervous that he might fall or escape.

Sometimes I do have chams wandering around the house. That's why it's so important to have safe areas for free ranging when you are not home to closely supervise. Most of these guys are older and I have found that most of the time with a little age on them they don't roam as much but there are exceptions. My veiled Luie is 4 1/2 and one of my main roamers.

Yes, there's quite a few chameleon keepers in FL. We do have the perfect weather for keeping chameleons.

The poop falls on the black mats under each tree and I clean it up as soon as I see it fall.

Some of the free ranges are set up with drippers and for misting. We live in south Florida and it stays warm here pretty much year round so I have a tons of trees outside for misting. If the weather is too cold to go outside they take turns in the house on the free ranges that I can mist on. Also all my guys will drink via a plastic dropper and they are all offered water that way several times a week. I have a few videos attached of them drinking if you are interested.
