Sorry to be "that" person....

......but would anyone mind giving me a second opinion as the to the sexes of my brevs? The one to the left I bought as male around 3 months ago. The one to the right I was sold yesterday as female. However "she" has a rather defined dorsal and a tail of similar length to my male. They also don't seem particularly happy in eachother's company. "She" is displaying a lot of patterns which I've read is not typical of a female however the pet shop owner was adamant it was female and potentially gravid. Do gravid pygmys display more prominent patterns or am I housing two males here? Again, she's the one to the right

Thanks. Looks like I'm in for an awkward confrontation with a shop keeper Wouldn't care but the stores a good distance away

Attached I have 3 pictures.
1st Pic of a male. You can see the base of the tail is much thicker and the tail is longer, as well as the dorsal crest points.

2nd Pic is of a gravid female. The tail is very short and thin and comes to an abrupt point. You can see gravid female can display patterns, however its mainly based on temperature and mood.

3rd pic is of a breeding pair, both are displaing for one another. Again look at the tails, and you can distinctively tell the difference

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for that. There's a lot of info on sexing pygmys all saying the same thing (dorsel, tail, body shape etc). I'm confident that I'll be able to spot a female when I go back to the shop tomorrow to swap him. Perhaps I'll give the shop worker a few pointers while I'm there ;)
