Today i had to take spike out to clean the cage and he was not in a good mood. He came out easy climbed onto my hand in fact but for some reason the way i was holding him on my hand my finger was sticking out and it scared him a bit i think. He sort of grabbed it and bit down as hard as he could it actually hurts a little. No mark though at all in a way i feel better that he finally bit me cause i wanted to get it over with lol. He never bites me usually if he gets upset he will hit me with his tongue lol.

I remember my 1st bite,it hurt my feelings more than my finger:D Gave me a good shock though! Hasn't happened since...touch wood:p

Ahh, he didn't break skin?!? I was holding my camera to take a picture of Pan and he grabbed my finger instead of the camera and he broke the skin! He was only 3 months old!!! I'm afraid for when he's older...

*Touch wood*! I haven't as yet been bitten by any of mine. Lily just didn't 'do' mean, full stop. Not a bad bone in her body! Tommy seems to be a male version of Lily and he's really chilled. It's the Amy monster that I need to watch out for though, lol! I reckon she wouldn't think twice about taking a chunk out of my hand! Some days all you have to do is look at her and out comes the chin, followed by 'Pffft'! and gaping, lol! :D

My first cham was a surprise from my husband. We were at a reptile show and i saw this gorgeous boy and told my hubby i would love to have a cham. Surprise. An hour later he came over with a bag and said here you go. Being very nieve about reptiles, i slightly opened the bag, and without looking in it, stuck my hand in, and ouch!!!! He never broke the skin but it scared the bedevil out of me...Didn't do that ever again.lol. Took me another month before i dared pick him up again. He eventually became the tamest veiled i ever had, falling asleep on my arm often.

Just be glad he didn't break the skin. I remember seeing on the forum a guy who got bit by a female and it took 5 stiches. And yet we still love them. Go figure!!!

Cabo my new male veiled thinks he's bad, but he's not. I found that if you slide your hand under them palm up from behind, there's not a lot they can do and they will just hold on. Once he is on my hand he's fine. BTW everyone, Mr. January is adjusting very well. :D

Suprizingly I've only been bitten by my one cham. He was a panther. My veiled Rex will just freak out but not bite.

A year and some in, I still havent been bitten by my cham yet. I watch his body language closely because I'm more concerned now (given this record), that should he do so unexpectedly, the shock will cause me to flinch, possibly causing damage to his mouth.
He is not generally a cranky lizard, gets a little tantrum on after outdoor basking when its time to go back, but normally he gives plenty of warning, and slowly, turning his head toward me and flattening, giving me time to switch tactics. :)

Never bitten by a cham, but my Bearded Dragon bit me a couple times. She seems to be incapable of seeing the difference between my fingers and her food.

I haven't been bitten yet, either (knock on wood). My female velied, Ms. Smegel will hiss at me when she's in a bad mood letting me know in advance that "today is not a good day!" Usually I can clean her cage and hand feed her phoenix worms with no problems. My newest addition, Gandolf, male veiled, is very skittish and he hissed and tried to bite when I was cleaning, but I dodged in time and I just leave him be!

A male veiled bit me once. It didn't really hurt. It was just surprising. The thing that got me was it was the same week I get bitten by a 6 ft jungle carpet python in the forearm that required stitches, and also got bitten by a day gecko that drew blood on the same finger the same week. I almost considered raising guppies after that week was over.

I have never been bitten either yet by a Cham but snapped at, oh wait maybe I have but it wasn't bad lol so can't really remember. I think the veiled, louie I used to own did get me once. My bearded baby juvie however has got me a few times and no broken skin but still hurt!
