Spyro fell asleep outside of his cage.

I was letting my Jacksons Chameleon Spyro Roam around his outside of his cage with full supervision. He fell asleep on the outside, and I need to get him inside. I know they don't like to be waken up. Please give me advice. Thanks

They are actually quite hard to wake up by physical contact. As long as there isn't any bright light near him, he probably won't wake up when you take him to his cage. I have heard of chameleons who have fallen asleep on the top of a couch, and then when someone sat on the couch, the chameleon rolled off the top and stayed fast asleep. You will probably be totally fine with grabbing him real quick and transporting him to his cage.

Well, just be very gentle. Rapid or rough movements could possibly wake him, but I doubt it. You just don't want him getting hurt. If her does wake up, he will be sluggish and groggy, just like us when we wake up. Just transport him to the enclosure as quickly as you can, that will reduce the risk of stress and/or complications.

Thanks so much!!!! Spyro is in his habitat!!! He is a little frazzled, he is black with green spots. He will cheer up though knowing him! He always turns green when he sleeps! Thanks again!!!

Had my baby Jackson’s on the House ficus tree to free range they fell asleep and I just left them there and put a cold air humidifier around the tree. They did fine...if it makes you feel better @Paige21.chameleon

That seems like that would be fine as well. It all depends on where they fell asleep . . . they can be really weird sometimes :D I would agree and probably leave them there if it was on an actual tree, but if they were on furniture or something like that, I would tuck them back into their own plant/bed :p They sure are hard sleepers

My husband's veiled chameleon Tillman fell asleep on my head one time. Complete with his tail wrapped around my glasses. *sigh* Felt so bad having to wake him up to move him. I had no idea how heavy those lil guys sleep! I wish I could sleep that hard.

New born Jackson’s are harder to keep than all the chameleons sleeping in the world lol
So true. I love how weird chameleons are
