Edema can be caused by nutrient imbalance or other things including kidney issues.

Carrots will NOT lead to a vitamin A overdose...it's a prOformed source of vitamin A and only prEformed sources can lead to an overdose.

Lynda, what do you think about him holding his head up like that? Kris is taking him to the vet in the morning.

@jannb They will hold their head up like that when they are sick and have organ damage...but there are other reasons too.

I hope he doesn't have organ damage...I'm so worried about him ? I hope it is something simple. I love him so much and I'm so afraid of losing him. I just don't understand what happened...he was fine and then all of a sudden his chin swells and he has no energy.

In my other post I said..."since I don't know specifically what the dubia food is or the hornworm chowder you're feeding them I have no hope of helping you with the swelling"... I should have added can you give me the ingredients in those foods please?
(My concentration is off a bit today because there is so much going on here today.)

Squirt is almost 3....I will get the dubia food ingredients as soon as I get home. It is so strange that I've been feeding those feeders the same diet for months...Squirt's mouth has been swollen about a week or so. I just can't figure out what happened.

He never has gaped , and he didn't tilt his head up this morning after he ate. I purchase the insects from Coastal Silkworms, Beastmode Silks, I get their dubias and hornworms from Dubia Roaches. Those are the only places I purchase feeders. I will buy crickets from our local pet store when they have them.

I think I have figured it out or I hope so...he's still going to the vet tomorrow for a check up. One of my friends said that he may have bumped his chin...I didn't think about it until remembering finding him in my closet. He was find on the 18th.....I found him in my closet on the 19th. I think he may have fallen and bumped his chin...I really didn't notice the swelling until the 23rd. I am praying this is what is wrong...I will keep you all updated on what the vet says tomorrow. ?

The bump on his right side below his mouth? I didn't realize this what you were talking about.
There is still edema as well...but the bump could be from a fall or could be an infection.

Yes....I noticed the right side of his chin was swollen but didn't know why. I'm going have the vet do bloodwork and take xrays to find out if he has edema or has injured his jaw.
