Starting new cage

gonna start building my new cage soon for when del is big enough, so i decided to get into SketchUp and get some rough ideas. my plan is to put the cage into a corner of my room, would this shape work for it?
the base is 2' x 8"x 1'10" x 8" x 2' (makes more sense when you see it) and its 5 feet tall. the door is 3' tall and 3" below the top. let me know what you think!

p.s. if anyone is planning on making a cage, i recommend downloading Google SketchUp, its free and once you get the hang of it (only took me a few minutes) it makes it very easy to design

forgot the picture :p

I've used sketch up before and it's not bad for a free program. I do have solid edge though! :D

It looks good and would definitely work! Even though you're making it 5' tall, i still think you're losing a bit too much space inside the enclosure. Personally, I'd make it 2.5' x 1' x 1'4" x 1' x 2.5', but I like large enclosures! :D

As a rough caluclation, a standard 2x2x4 cage is 16 units (of space - very loose calculation :D) and yours is 15ish as it stands (very rough calculation there). Its not massive, but if this is going to be his final enclosure, I'd go slightly bigger! My size would be nearer 26 units, which is massive! :D

It's just a suggestion mind! :D I like the plan!

Where will the water drain to? I would cut down on the height of the actual enclosure to 3' and use the remaining 2' on the bottom as a place for your catch pan and drainage. I like the corner design and I would go wider as Slik Jim recommended.

very good point jim, ill definitely make it wider now. space isnt an issue since ive got a large room for it.
and draetish, i was planning on putting it on a cart or stand and have it drain into there, i dont wanna cut out the height by a whole 2 feet since this is gonna be del's only big boy cage
