Still more Questions...

I have TOO many questions...I think this is my 3rd thread of Qs. :) I am getting a Panther male, he will be around 4-5 mounths old.

1: How is this for a gutload?? Carrots, kale, Collard Greens, and a little of whatever vegatables or fruit I have at the time. I will ALWAYS have carrots because im in love with the things, and Kale and CG are always avalible at the locale supermarket.

2:Is it okay for a Bearded Dragon to be in the same room as my Panther?? Not the same cage, just in the room?? I dont know why this would be an issue but I dont know, better safe then to find out BDs have some airborn toxic cham killer...I know, its out there, but im just covering all my bases.

3: What size Crix should I feed him when I get him?? I know I could find this stuff out for myself, but I dont really trust those google sites, I would rather ask someone with lots of experiance, and you people here seem to know what you are talking about:)

Im sorry for bothering you guys again...:)
Oh, and any name suggestions??? Its going to be an Ambilobe from Kammers, from one called Mihoatra-Finoana, its colors look AMAZING!

1: I don't use fruit and veggies (though I know I should) to gut load my crickets, I use gahn's cricket food and the little green cubey things so I don't much on the matter but I know that you should absolutely not use avacadoes. Avacado=bad.

2: Don't think BD's have that cham killing disease though that sounds like something I would say, I am totally like that. I think it would only matter if the area is high traffic. That tends to stress them out but I am sure you know that by now. And keep an eyes on the temp and humidity. One is desert dwelling and the other is tropical. They require different climates. I your cham starts sitting with his mouth open and hanging out around the bottom of the enclosure he could be overheated...just something to look out for.

3: I think the general rule of thumb is that the food should be no bigger than the space between their eyes. So for a 5 month old maybe med. crickets. With soft things like silkworms I think they can be a little bigger.

Keep asking away, chameleon freaks like us love to pass on the knowledge

1. A good variety of veggies and fruits is good but I'd add some grains and protein sources too.

3. Ask Liddy what size crickets she's feeding it when she sends him.

Congrats, they've got very nice animals!

Thank you! I think im going to put in the Gutload for Grain some Baby food like Baby Cerial...how does that sound?

Also, one more question, but this one is about raiseing crix. How many days on average will they take to hatch? How many days does it take them to get to an appropriote feeder size?

Hey Hanna (that is your name, right? :p )

It is ok for your BD to be in the same room as your cham, but, make sure to wash your hands after touching the BD or any of its items in or around the cage BEFORE handling the cham or any of the chams items! BD are known to carry a certain disease (sorry, i do not know the name of it) that they can live with, but those same diseases will kill a cham in no time if they come in contact. My cham breeder (who has been breeding chams for 15 years) gave me this info when he learned that I spent much time around my brother-in-laws BD's.

Also, as you will probably read in other posts on the forum, chams usually do not like other chams or reptiles in their "visible" area, so if I were you, I'd try to put some sort of barrier in between the two so that the cham doesnt stress out (and the BD for that matter). Good luck and keep us posted!

Regards,
Jim
