Stinky Crickets!

I have to tell a story that I once read in the paper, but I'm floating in my pool right now with my waterproof iPad case, and it's too much to type. I'll put it up later. it is gross!

Look at Dr. O being all diva in his pool float! Now all you need is a nice frozen beverage and you're good to go! :)

I'm in big trouble... two adult male dubia just turned up on the dining-room floor...

Never given Ivy adults, only nymphs, their box is in the kitchen in a high, warm cupboard!

I can only think a couple of nymphs escaped from Ivy's feeder cup and grew to adulthood at the bottom of the enclosure.

My Hubbles is furious, says they need to be kept in the basement from now on. Not likely...

i moved into a bigger room in my house when my sister moved out and the escaped crickets all ended up in one corner of the old room for some reason

i was excited to tell the story, but couldn't type all that there! i felt that i owed an explanation.

maybe it would have gone over better if i mentioned that i just took delivery of 4000 roaches and had been shuffling roaches and cages outdoors in the brutal florida heat, and that was all after taking care of chams and hatchlings. i was hot, tired, and roachy!

poor me.

Well I really do not have an issue because my crickets are housed outside. We have tons of wild geckos here so feeders that do get loose are never an issue. In fact I sometimes bring in some baby crickets for the baby geckos that like to hang out in the house. They are so cute and so tiny and look hungry so I like to hook them up.

I've found crickets everywhere the worse is when it starts chirping and seems to haunt you everywhere in the house! I keep the dubias securely housed and handfeed them so I see where they end up and not in my kitchen lol

How fun is it to have wild geckos everywhere?

I have 3 small dogs, but only 1 is the cricket killer. She is a Chi-Chon. This little dog will hunt them down and kills them on the spot. My other 2 little yappers could care less about them!

If you've only had 1 escape, you are doing GREAT!

Its great as they take care of most of the insects that would potentially be an issue. However the geckos will not touch the american roaches. They will not get anywhere near a roach. The cane spiders however have no issue feeding on the American Roaches.

LOL!! this is sooooo true :D
I always try to track them down by the sound of their chirping and can
swear I am right on top of one, but he is nowhere to be found, stops chirping until I walk away, then starts up again, only LOUDER!!

That's okay, the house spiders will get them (that's why I let them stay and get fat!!) :D

That would need to be a pretty mean spider!!

Well now there's a green banana roach loose in the kitchen! Little see you next Tuesday escaped when I was spraying the soil! He's one of the little almond sized ones and I can't find him anywhere, those things are fast, and he took off and flew away, hover my a$$! :( He will be waiting for me in my shoe tomorrow :D

I've just banished crickets from my house, after finding one that was basically just a moving zombie head. I'll have to have some when I get my baby carpet cham but I hoping he will like locusts, butters, silkies, dubias...frankly, anything but crickets!

I had a cricket wander up to me while I was at my most vulnerable, on the loo! I managed to control any movements while squishing it with my toe. However last night I caught glimpse of a wolf spider lingering behind a pipe in the bathroom so left it there to catch any other escaped bugs
