Strange behavior

So my male veiled normally is not able to be handled. But today when we went to water him he attempted to crawl out of his cage when we opened the door onto my hand! When he got out he was fine. Normally he will hiss and pitch a fit when my hand is anywhere near him, but today he was fine. He was waiting by the door and as soon as it opened he was like let me out!!! I really have no idea what would bring about a change in behavior like this.

Has anyone else experienced a chameleon changing his or we behavior like this?

my veiled, right from when he was little, would willingly wait to be let out of the cage, not the typical attitude you'd expect from one of these tempermental chams. he still does it to this day. how old is yours? perhaps he's just had a change of heart, and has grown to trust you and knows his surroundings :)

he is almost 1 and a half years old and there is a 6 month old female next to him. Is that what it is?

Yes! mine has only today begun to do the same thing, head for the exit as soon as the door is open. Hes never done it before, and he is far more active.
I wont speculate what that means except hes male, 4 months, maybe they just like to roam about more? He dosent mind me, my arms or shirt is as good as a branch to him, hes quite athletic and graceful.

perhaps its just that take him outside daily and he expects to go out when the door is open?

hahaha, if he can see the female.......could be!

Lol, hes a guy, he dosent need to see the girl! maybe he can smell her? Hear her?

:)

Hey guys my male has started doing the same as i walk up to open the door he walks over to the corner then as i open it he grabs my fingers with his 2 front feet looks about for a bit then climbs on hahaha.

it's kinda cool as he climbs on he turns into wonderfully bright colours he is 7months old now.

I would be stoked if my cham warmed up to me like this! He never gets angry with me, but I can tell I freak him out a bit. I've only had him two weeks. Might need some more time to adjust?
Anyway, I'm taking it slow, but I'm hoping to free range him when he's an adult.

I think a lot of chams have personality changes at about a year old, and you're lucky he got nicer- from what I've heard, if they change at all, it usually goes the other way! I don't have a ton of experience with veileds though, so take someone elses opinion above mine.

Hey Dunnigan, I have read on this forum about ALOT of peoples chams who come to the front of the cage and want it. ITs nothing abnormal.

And yes it can very well be the female...And the whole thing about letting you handle him...Mine usually hates when i try and get him out of his cage...but once hes out hes a sweetheart :p

I think its just a territorial thing, mine hisses and opens his mouth almost everytime i stick my hand in there. But its normal, And i like when my cham is a little frisky :p makes things more fun

Anyway goodluck!
