Strange black mark

Hi there,

I am wondering if anyone could give me an ideas about something I noticed on my cham (veiled) this morning.

It's a strange small black mark - maybe only 2x2mm - just underneath his mouth on his skin. It looks as though its a spot of tar - that sort of black shiny appearance. It looks as though its something ON his skin ... but there's nothing tarry in his cage - only plants/wood/etc.

Apart from that he looks healthy to me - good eyes/skin colour etc. When I picked him up to look at it he was moving around so wasn't weak or anything.

Does it sound like anything anyone recognises?

Thanks
Danielle

a few months ago i noticed a small black mark exactly like the one yours has except it was by her leg, i kept an eye on it and it went away with her next shed. Could be the same thing? Others on here might have more input and im interested in hearing about it. I would just keep a close eye on it.

I had the same thing too...
Marley had a little black mark just under his mouth too but it seems to have gone away now..
It must have disappeared when he last shed (2 days ago)

Bug juice maybe?

Keep an eye on it, might wash off during misting, might come off with the next shed?

Post a pic if you can get a clear one :D

Sometimes when juice from a particularly juicy bug drips onto my cham it goes black. It's probably just bug innards.

"Juice" from a horn worm will turn black. My melleri constantly have black lips from their horn worms.....unless I am standing there with a bib or cloth to wipe it off.
