Strange

My 3 yr old female chameleon is eating sand and moss out of her laying site why is she doing that?

reptiles will tend to eat soils when they are low on minerals, and calciums..double check your supplement schedule..maybe an increase will help remedy the problem..

Well she has them twice a week...hmmmmmm shall iturn it up to 3 times a week
SHe has what twice a week?
Your supplement schedule should be as follows...
calcium w/o d3 and phosphorus every feeding.
calcium with d3 2x a month.
multivitamin 2x a month.

I use Miner-All instead of just plain calcium.

Bones are made up of a lot more than just calcium, and so many body functions require so many different minerals. Calcium IS on top of the list, but everything has its place.

I've never had a chameleon eat soil.

I think multivitamins should be fed more often then 2 times a month.. If she just laid eggs she obviously lost alot of vitamins and calcium thus she is trying to restore that balance by ingesting dirt which has minerals which will restore the vitamins & minerals she has lost. Try and offer more than what she is getting now without over-supplementing

Supplementing is not as cut and dry as, "you should be supplementing this much."
I love how people just throw out a schedule but dont mention what product they use. D3 and multivitamin twice a month isnt always the right schedule. its also not safe to just say that multivitamins should be offered more than that. It all depends on the product, the gut load and the animal itself. I use reptivite with d3 twice a week but there are other multivitamins with 10x the amount of d3. Those obviously should be offered only sparsely. The best way to supplement your animal is to research symptoms of over and under supplementing d3, vitamin a and calcium. You may find that your current schedule is not working the way it should, do some research and find an alternative. Look at what the product offers, look at what your chameleon should be getting and make an educated adjustment. Also stick to your schedule because if you lose track of what dusts you are offering and how much your offering, it makes it very difficult to pinpoint a problem if one should arise.

This is more than likely true of your animal. Good advice. Some chams will also eat aggregate to scrape their digestive tract of parasites.

Well thanks for all the advice..i went to my reptile vets last week and she said her diet is perfect weight is good, and i don't think it was the sand she was going it was the moss which is moist..and she has access to plenty of water
