Stuck shed on Spike?

Good evening everyone!! Today I was hanging out with Spike and I noticed his back foot seems to have some stuck shed on his toes. It looks like his nails are being pushed together under the shed. He’s never shown any uncomfort on his foot or failed to use it , and it’s been a while since he has shed so I don’t necessarily think he is in pain from it. What do you think? I will think about making a vet appt for him, but spike is quite old and I’m not sure he’s ever been to the vet. I worry what the stress from trying to get him there would do to him.
Thanks everyone!! Pic of area, and a recent pic of him, saying thank you!!!

I do not think this warrants a vet trip. See how loose it is from the skin. Beman has one back foot where every shed he has a difficult time getting it to let go of the nail so it holds to the surrounding area. I VERY gently and only when it is totally separated from the skin create a small slit in the shed on the top of the toe so it separates and lets go easier for him. Most of the time this allows it to pop free within a day of him walking around on it. This is the only time I intervene when he sheds.
