The sun was nice and warm so I decided to bring Hugh outside for a bit to soak up the sun. One minute later, the clouds decide to block the sun... I had been raining for the past 2 days and I guess winter is finally deciding to settle in. I guess i'll wait for a few minutes and if the clouds don't go away, back into the apartment we go.

I'm sorry Gabbie, this mite annoy u more, but here in LA...its some fun in the sun:cool::p....ha!...jk

Your not too late to do it Manic, still lots of sun time left.

Ace, San Diego is the shizzle. The clouds just decided to part so yay for some sun. Hugh is LOVING it!:D He all of a sudden turned this real pretty purple.

I love rain and cold weather LOVE IT but ever since I got Hugh, I'd rather it be sunny and warm so that I can take him out.

There are still ample UV rays even when it is cloudy. Depending on the temps it wont hurt for him to be left out in the rain either. I house my animals out side late spring, summer and early fall. Provide him with plenty of cover in the enclosure so he can get out of the sun and if there is a down pour he can wait it out in the middle of the plants;) There is no better way to keep chameleons than keeping them outside if at all possible.

already got them outside while i clean the house and their back room a bit. chowder doesnt know what to do. ill check on him in a bit see if he likes some fresh air and sun

Really? Wow, I'm going to have to have him shower in the rain next time it happens. Of course if it's warm enough... Thank you!:D

Yes I do:p Most of the time I see my animals right at the top of the cage sitting in it and drinking it up. If it isnt a huge down pour that is. When I am able to house my chams (adults and very young babies) outside they stay out all day and night. Unless there are reports of hail or very high winds they have to brave the storms day or night. As I said, just make sure there is plenty of cover for them. If it is raining too hard they will go to the middle plants and chill. They also set somewhat under a tree so that helps when it is hot or raining severely.

I have kept my chams (adults and very young babies) outside in temps as high as upper 80s daytime to mid 40s night time. If it gets real cold just make sure they have a chance to warm up the next day. When it gets to the max temp I let mine out in they have plenty of waterings and shade through out the day. I do keep montane chameleons though. So, you wont want to let your panther get so cold at night but you can let it get a bit higher in temp. When I kept panthers I would keep them out between 55 and 95 degrees. When it got that hot they of course were well watered, plenty of shade and monitored throughout the day. When younger I wouldnt let it get that hot though. They can dehydrate much quicker.

If you live where you arent afraid of theft or wildlife and you can house him outdoors then thats where I would put him:)

Yeah, i'm not able to do that. I live on the second floor of an apartment complex with no balcony or anything. We have the one that leads out to the stairs and that is where I sit with Hugh in the sun. There are lots of stray cats and birds so I sit right next to him making sure i'm much lower than he is. He doesn't seem to like it very much tough. He'll sun for a bit and then he tries to get away.

I just showered him too and he HATED it. He'd try to get off of his tree and reached and reached to get off. I left him in there for about 10 to 15 minutes anyway so that he could get some water throught his skin. I then put him back in his cage and turned his dripper on, he then proceeded to stand right under his dripper and let the water fall on his back. Weirdo, I don't get him. :p

Okay... now enough bragging about your beautiful almost alway weather  Here in Jersey I have to wait until at least March or April even before I get to bring my Diego outside  So count yourselves lucky... I'm moving :)
