Substrate

Hello! I have some organic soil in place in my tank right now. I've gone through the whole substate and picked out all of the big parts and clumps, but I'm still worried. Do you think I could place some plastic wrap over the substrate, or some paper towels to prevent impaction? I'm getting my baby panther this Sunday, and I want to do everything I can before I get him.

What is the purpose of the substrate? Are you planning on starting a bio-active substrate?

If it is in there for aesthetics then I would remove it.

Show a picture? Soil doesn't cause impaction.
Most of my bottom cage is covered by a pothos, but the part that is not is the 2nd picture. Also, do you think my plants are okay? I have a umbrella plant, pothos which is covering the ground, and a Dracaena fragrans.
