what is the best substrat to have for u and your cham

None. He could eat it and become impacted. Plus it's easier to clean a bare bottom cage.

After washed, cleaned and repotted the soil has to be covered with large river rocks.

Then by the time he's 7 to 10 months old depending on size, you'll need a 48 " high cage or a free range.

thanks for all the help and i dont know what would be the best to do see im 13 and i will have some help from my parents with buying the stuff it will most likely be a christmas present but i am not in experienced with reptiles i have cared for them before i wanted to get a chameleon because it will probably be one of the coolest pets i will have but im just trying to find a cheeper way out of the situation and the cge and an automatic mister is the big problem cash wise

If you don't have allot of money then a chameleon might not be the pet for you. I have found them to be a very expensive pet to keep and not only do you need all the supplies you need a nice savings for vet visits.
