Sunblaster Reflector issue ??

Has anybody heard of an issue with the sun blaster reflectors? I just saw a post about a stuby, and it seems some of the reflectors were put on backward, so they are not reflecting properly.

Yep backwards, may still happen may not.

COULD happen, with any brand that uses Mylar Reflectors. IE Arcadia, Vivarium Electronics, Sunblaster, Pangea has one, HydroFarm Jumpstart, if your fixture looks like a sunblaster, it uses Mylar, if it uses Mylar, that issue can happen. Its a simple QC issue, that COULD happen with any of them, so something to be mindful of, and check. However not IMO, a deterrent of buying any of those fixtures, they are all good fixtures.

I have already made the thread, that Beman linked on it, as well as make those info graphics in that thread (the BD thread)(I am Francis) that should cover, the issue and how to fix it, and check for it :).

Is nice to see they credited me in that thread, thats very nice of them, they didn't have to do that I wouldn't care TBH, but very cool of them to do so :).

I would strongly disagree with the guy who said its not necessary to check with Arcadia. The reason why, is that mistakes happen, thats just a fact of life. This did not just effect UV light, the lumens are also substantially reduced when it is backwards, this is not something that Sunblaster would have wanted, just as much as Arcadia does not want theirs showing up backwards.

Point is, stuff happens every company can make mistakes, especially when they seemingly use the Same OEM for the fixtures. Its not hard to be sure, and the risk is to high not to, IMO. Arcadia does not provide the laquer scracth coating on their reflectors, so its even easier with theirs, as the reflective coating scratches off much easier. Get your light, grab a Key, scracth it, if it leaves a black mark, go on about your life happy, and safe.
