Sunken eyes ??????????

Easy to diagnose. It's dehydration, period. NOT to be confused with fasting or lack of food. If it was a hunger issue, he would be more boney and you could see his rib bones sticking out. My crested geckos had sunken eyes while I was a way on vacation. I put a water bowl for them w/o any food. Within the next morning it was gone. This was done before I even had a chance to offer them food. Poor a bottle of water next to him. then trickle it on his mouth. Let him take gulp fulls of water. Do this for a few days. He'll be better.

What leads you to that conclusion? Nobody even suggested that his lizard suffered from a lack of food or was actually a crested gecko. Sunken eyes generally point to a dehydrated chameleon, but really urates are the ultimate indicator for that and this particular chameleon seems otherwise very healthy. So I'm just curious why it's so easy for you to diagnose.

Sunken eyes can be an indication of other things as well.
I can't tell you what is causing it but a vet should be able to.

I agree with you.....I would never trickle/pour water down any of my chams throats unless it was an absolute emergency

I think your guy is OK. He looks nice and healthy other than his eyes. I had an issue like this with my veiled. His eyes still seem 'sunken'.... but hes so fat and hydrated these days I really don't think it is a husbandry issue. Your guy might be in the same boat as Fred.... just shallow eyes.

Edit: if the urates are white, I wouldn't worry too much.

my cham pulls his eyes in when he is pissed off or just a little wary. From the stance yours is in, i would personally say that is all the problem is. he looks fine and healthy to me

Or it can just simple be just cause of the different kind of chameleon. The velieds might have smaller eyes then your average panther chameleon. Cause i have wonder as well but it might just be that.
