super worms

My female veiled chameleon has been acting differently lately. I've fed her super worms and it seemed like she was chewing them good. However, I've heard that superworms can survive once ingested. My cham is moving slower, and her appetite isn't what it usually is. Her coloring is darker during daylight hours. She wont eat crickets anymore. Anyone have tips as to what i should do? please and thanks.

These are rumours as far as I know. I don't think this has ever been proven to have happened.

okay. that's a relief. from what i've been reading, people are saying starve the chameleon until it will take crickets again. so that's what i'll do. thanks.

Super worms can be very addicting. My cham always try to hold out on crickets the day after getting supers. I only feed maybe 4 a week per pet and I try to only feed white or fresh molted ones.

Some chameleons will get addicted to the worms. If they get hungry enough, they will eat the crickets again.

oh okay. thanks! She's not gravid right now but i suspect in about a month or two she will be. She laid 50 eggs about a month ago and seemed fine afterwards, until about 2 weeks ago when i started giving her more super worms. It seemed like she was able to lay all of her eggs because each clutch has increased in number. I did not mate her before she laid her last clutch. here's a picture of her right now. This is not an usual position for her. She is almost 2 years old.

today I found her at the bottom of her plant, laying sideways, just barely holding on. her eyes were sunken. Since she wont eat much, i offered her a superworm bc she seemed to love those. She just looked at it but did not take it. I tried feeling her belly to see if i could feel any bound eggs and i didn't feel anything. Do any of you have any tips other than taking her to a vet? Anyone aware of how much a vet would cost to evaluate and treat her?
Please and thank you.

Hey...Any advice you could provide would be great. I came home today and the lights had already turned off...but my cham is looking pretty lifeless and her eye sockets are depressed. she barely has enough energy left, she leans and cant even grab with her back feet. Is there anything i can do other than take her to the vet?

Sunken eyes are a sign of severe dehydration. If you cannot take her to a vet I would offer her a warm shower. You can do this by putting a plant in the shower and have warm - not hot water showering over half the plant. Make sure she can get out of the water if she wants. Put her inside and give her privacy. The warm steam and water might help her. You can search these forums as to how to do it correctly.
