Superworms vs crickets

Hello all, my 11 month old Panther has picked up his eating since getting comfy to his new home but I am wondering, he seems to be killing the Superworms but not really eating crickets. I tried rotating days but on the cricket days he wouldnt really eat any but then would eat a bunch of superworms....

The questions I have are,

Can I feed him too much? Here is what I offered and he ate since the 15th:
15th- 12 superworms offered, he ate 10
16th- 10 crickets offered, he ate 1
17th- 12 superworms offered, he ate 9
18th- 12 superworms offered, he ate 11
Today I put 12 superworms in.

I dont want to feed him too much if its bad, and I dont want him to get board of superworms, so, any advice or tips? Do I offer EVERYDAY? How often do I need to mix it up?

I would lay off the supers for a week or so. They usually will not die off, and you may be inadvertently creating a picky eater that only wants what he wants o_O. You could also try some other feeders, but I'd try to get him a bit more hungry so he will eat the crickets and not hold out for only the worms. A few days without eating for a healthy animal shouldn't do any harm.

Superworms shouldn't be the staple feeder. Verirty makes for a healthy cham. Crickets or dubias are good examples of staple feeders. Superworms are a good inbetween feeder. 30 superworms in 4 days in my opinion is too many. My adult veiled gets dubias or crickets every other day. I give 2-3 supers on the inbetween days at most. Hornworms and silkworms are fed when I have them.

I'd try mixing it up. They get bored with just one or two types of food. Try dubias. I get mine cheap at discountdubias.com

How many dubias do you put in at a time? Do they climb and hide or no?

I would cup feed the Dubai if it were me they can't clime slick surfaces. I don't believe they can eat through the screen. Even though super worms can become addictive, and I too think you should make him hold out for something different super worms are a good staple. As good a crickets, and Dubai in my opinion. It is mill worm, and wax worms that aren't healthy, and should only be used as treats.

Check craiglist local ads for dubias. People who start colonies often times are happy to sell off some bulk as they are extremely easy to raise. I found someone in RI who was willing to sell me (for very cheap) a starter colony and some medium feeders as my cham was around 8 months old. A year later and no heat added to the bin I have more than I'll ever need. Heat will make the colony multiply very quickly. They do not eat through screen but if not cup fed they will find places to hide in the enclosure.

Well, if the wife is afraid of them.......Either way, Mvad has a good point in regards to craigslist and hiding. Craigslist is a good place to look and hopefully procure a few on the cheap. See if your cham likes them first before starting a colony.
