Supplementation Schedules?

from what i've read on the boards and in past experience with other animals, i see that there seems to be no exact science as to supplements. I know what supplements i had planned on using when i get my cham, but i was still unsure of the amounts and frequencies when using them. Also, please correct me if i'm wrong, but i'd think there should be different amounts for different food items to make up for nutritional differences. I was wondering if i could get some of you to post your supplement schedules as well as feeding schedules... what supplements, amounts, times, frequency? As little or as much information as you can offere will be a big help. Oh, i almost forgot. i'm looking into panthers so if there are differences feeding/supplementation for those as opposed to others, i'd love to hear them.

btw, i'm not a cham owner yet, but i do have a lot of experience with reptiles in general. Chams are totally new and i'm making sure i have all my husbandry issues addressed before i think about buying one.

thanks all

a very wise decision. Do not buy the chameleon until you get everything set up. So by the time he's arrived you can safely put him in there.

Also, please if you would, take a pic of your enclosure and post it here, so all the experienced owners can give you a thought or two in fixing some of potential problems in your enclosure.

Here's my supplement schedule for baby chameleon (panther and veiled):

MTh Herptivite
TF Repcal w/ D3
WSat Minerall-O

As soon as he reached juvenile, you can reduce the supplement by reducing the number of crickets that you feed.
around 5 or 6 medium crickets/day

There is different supplementation schedule when he's in the adulthood.
But let's talk about it later.
Dust lightly. Don't smother and choke the crickets with the supplement.

just like humans, chameleons have different metabolic rates.
Mine seems to be a voracious eater.
and keep on hunting crickets even after he goobled up all 18 of them.
After discussing it with Kammers, we agree that he should be fed around 25 crix/day (as opposed to 18 crix/day)
that number seems to work for him.

Your chameleon can be the one who is finicky and eat only 12 a day..
So approach the supplement rule base on your chameleon's personality and his metabolic rate.

hope that helps

My 3 month old veiled gets calcium with out phos/ d-3 m/w/f. Calcium w/d-3 Sat. Herptivite w/beta carotene tue/thurs. Now he gets 2 feedings a day, and eats generally 10- 15 crickets a feeding. I only lightly dust at one feeding, usually in the am. I also just started giving him 1 very, very small drop of Vit. A twice a month. I will keep this schedule till he is 5-6 months or so and then maybe change it.

eveyone i guess has their own supplement scheduel. Mine is
Mondays Thurs.-Calcium D3 no Phos
Tues Fri- Herptavite
Tues sat- T-rex Cham dust(all in one with a couple different vitamins)

i do rotate weekely D3 and no D3

i use trex calcium mon wed fri, repcal calcuim with d3 on tuesday, and herpavits on saturday. i dont no if this is right but i was starting to think that my cham needs more calcium because his grip isnt as tight as it used to be. its not that much of a difference but im testing the waters.
