Supporting Chameleon Conservation: Chameleon Specialist Group Fundraiser

We've reached 35% of our goal! Things are looking good so far but we still have a long way to go! By current trends, 63% of chameleons appear to be threatened or near threatened with extinction, as compared to an already terrifying 26% for all reptiles combined. We need to finish these assessments so we can determine if this trend holds across the entire family and to quantify the major factors contributing to their conservation status!

Chameleon conservation is an important topic that should be of interest to all chameleon enthusiasts. It is our responsibility as humans to preserve the diverse life found on our planet; we won’t get a second chance. I want to thank the Chameleon Specialist Group (CSG) for taking this initiative, and I also want to strongly encourage forum members to consider a small donation if possible. Chameleon Forums assumes a responsibility to do what it can to help. One idea that we have moved forward with is the creation of a Conservation Award that members can choose to receive if they donate to this cause.

If you would like an award please follow the instructions below.

We have another 63 days left on the fundraiser, but we still have another $2355 left to raise in order to meet out goal! We still have another 54 days to collect donations, which sounds like a long time, but we've still got quite a way to go. Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to remind anyone who hasn't checked it out already to look at the IUCN Chameleon Specialist Group's fundraising page: http://www.rockethub.com/projects/24942-chameleons-under-threat-conservation-and-actions Its very important that we finish the IUCN Red List Assessments for chameleons so we know the true level of threat for the family rather than just make assumptions based on trends from what has already been assessed. These trends are startling and definitely warrant additional investigation! Please consider helping this initiative if you can!

Hi Everyone,

Just to give you all an update since today marks the half way point for the duration of the Chameleon Specialist Group's fundraising effort. Thanks to the generous donations of many of you, we have now reached and surpassed our goal of raising $4000 for this workshop (currently at $4200)! A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed and spread the word!

In total, 30 unique individuals have donated to the project and of those 30 individuals, at least 26 have been from this forum! Here is the current list of members that I know of who have donated (if you donated and aren't on the list, send me a PM with the name and email you used to donate from):
