Swine flu

I've been a little worried about this flu. But then it dawn on me, as a ate a bacon cheesebuger for lunch today. With all the bacon and honey baked ham I've devoured over the years, I should have a pretty good tolerance built up. :D

Yea but do you have a tolerance of Trichinella spiralis?
You gotta cook that pork.

I'm beginning to think I may have a resistance to it . About 3 of my friends have had confirmed cases? (I believe they were confirmed, they were yanked out of school and haven't come back yet.) :D

It's not like polio or tuberculosis or anything, or measles, or smallpox, or hepatitis. I don't know why they are pushing these vaccines so hard (oh wait, yes I do).

The vaccines have only met the MINIMUM standards and I don't agree with that whatsoever, especially when you look back into the history of vaccines and all the issues they have caused.

My body has met the maximum standards :D haven't got any sort of cold in 5+ years (ever since I stopped taking flu shots...)

A healthy diet, Ginger tea and coconut oil > vaccines.

All the cases of h1n1 I have heard of, are all exactly like the normal flu.

Fear mongering for pharmaceutical $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and lots of it.

I'm a strong believer that a weak immune system causes the flu, not the flu virus.

I totally agree do to my condition my Dr. is pushing it on me. This vaccine is still being tested ,I refuse to be a lab rat.

The question is then Brock, why does such a huge % of the global population (even in western countries) have a weak or compromised Immune system ?

I think I see where your at, I do beleive that since the discovery of penicillin/anti-biotics, they have been way over prescribed. The end result is that, generally speaking,
your immune system dosent develop immunity naturally, as it would if the doc said 'go home and let it take its course'. Anti-biotics commonly prescribed are becoming much less effective as viral/bacterial strains become resistant.

That said, the whole point of a vaccine is that its a very mild dose of whatever it works against, which is intended to give your immune sytstem something to work with. Aka, so you do develop immunity, atleast some immunity to that particular strain.
The issue is that flu strains change/evolve, effect people differently.

Rofl, I must say I find that incredibly amusing. Has it ever occured to you, that those looney rabid 'anti-research' folk might be on to something.? There is nothing you will ever be prescribed or buy from a pharmacy that was not "Tested" on lab rats etc and deemed "safe" before it was marketed.

If your willing to take any medication, then you are pretty much already a lab rat.
Do you go to vet and take dog medication when you are sick? Whats the difference?
Chances are high any meds your doctor prescribes were tested on dogs and deemed safe for you! :)

Fyi

The federal government is paying for all the H1N1 flu shots. The doctors get it for free(in the US)! They can only charge to administer the vaccine, so I don't think it's a big money maker for them. They would make more money if everyone got the flu and came in to see them.

A few of my sorority sisters got the swine flu. It is just like the regular flu. It sucks, but it isn't anything to be horribly worried about.

I haven't yet had the shot but I may as I have Asthma. And I am coming to California!!! if you guys make me sick STEVE, I will murder you after I die.

So i got the flu about a month ago and it was the heaviest flu i have ever had, i have never felt fatigue and my whole body ached when i had the flew. I am pretty sure i had the swine flu lmfao, i drank chicken broth and water, and was fine after 3 days! I make my body strong, i dont take meds at all unless it is extreme importance, me needing antibiotics. So yeah, guess h1n1 isnt so tough and a killer afterall if i had it and was over it in 3 days! :D

While this is true, the threat is to those who already have a weakened immune system, the very old, very young, respitory illness/disease, heart disease, etc etc.
Here it is alot worse than regular flu.
Note that otherwise healthy young girls have fallen victim to it (fatalities), so assumed rules dont always apply.
As noted earlier, the virus mutates and therefore its effects will vary. If you were actually diagnosed with it and suffered only mild/reg flu effects, consider yourself lucky, rather than the virus 'nothing to worry about'.
Regular flu knocks the crap out of me, though fortunately im done with my once annual (spring) dose.
Due to media hype, lots of people are 'pretty sure' they had/have swine flu, where infact
they didnt. Unless im mistaken, testing for that particular virus involves taking cultures/blood tests to determin its presence.
At the height of our flu season here, media hype and paranoia were at an all time high, with folk wearing mask in the streets, and doctors and hospitals overrun with paniced folk, all sure they or there love ones were dying of swine flu. Folk were waiting days to see doctors in hospital corridors.
While informing the public is responsible, the media have a duty of care not to embellish figures and facts and cause panic for the sake of a sensational story.
Im not sure of the number of deaths here, but confirmed cases were quite high.
No doubt as the colder weather arrives, you will experience similar in the states.

If you get sick with flu symptoms, dont immediately assume it must be swine flu, but all the same see your Gp and take standard precautions against sharing it around.
Hopefully you all get through the season with no more than regular colds etc.
Stay well. :)

Okay, I'm a weird, but I don't have TV for a good reason. Whatever I've heard about the swine flu is that it's less than the bad flu I had as a kid that killed people (Asian flu - probably in the early sixties)

I've been dealing with the public on a seriously one to one level here in California...I did get sick about 3 weeks ago and had to work through it... I wanted to sleep all the time but couldn't. I most likely had that flu. It left me with swollen nodes in my throat, and a rhasppy voice up until now...but I never got the vacine...but I never get the vacine for anything anyways.

I figure this flu only threatens the weak - infants and the elders.

I just did a google and can't find any links to confirm it, but evidently there is a drug company out in Cali that has a cure for the flu. ALL flu viruses. The drug is in the last stages of testing (human trials) now. One of the doctors who has come up with this cure was on the tonight show some time ago. I've also heard about this cure through my doctors at my dialysis clinic. Evidently it attacks the flu on a genetic level. That's why it can make the claim to cure all flu virus's since they have a pretty comparable genetic structure.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but here in N.Ireland we have lost 3 children that had special needs to this terrible virus in the last 2 weeks alone and only this very morning my own child was vaccinated (completely of my own choice)as i did research and found it the best possible option for me and my son. Also having someone close to me who suffered with it and believe me when i say suffered i mean exactly that!
