Swollen eyes?...

So recently my male veiled chameleons eyes have been swelling up in the mornings before I get up to spray him (I only have the time to spray him twice A day because I'm in school...)but as soon as I spray him his eyes deflate back to normal ... I'm not sure if this is because of dehydration or something else.
Also I have a dripper on almost all day when I'm in school.

I will post a picture of him below

His eyes look sunk in a bit in your picture. You really need an automatic mister. A MistKing starter is only $130. I would buy a few extras like a couple of extra nozzles, a tube cutter and a shut off valve. I bet your humidity is really low, too. I can't keep my humidity up in a screen cage packed with live plants and lots of misting. Your cage looks pretty barren of live plants, plus misting twice a day? In the winter, I bet the air in that cage is bone dry.

Really wish more people would put the extra into MistKings. Would solve so many problems.

What are your vitamin supplements like? And I agree with jajenapierre. His eyes look sunken. Swelling, could be he has something in his eyes he can't get out, which can lead to infection. I'm telling you to really invest in a Mistking. You can set must cycles for as long as you like and it will go off as many times as you want during the day while you are gone. The fine mist really helps them clean there eyes and clear anything that maybe in them. It also helps keep humidity up and provide a source for drinking. They help with so many things. Super easy drainage, drill a couple holes in the tray, put a brick in a ziplock bag on a bare bottom with no substrate at all, and throw a bucket underneath. Literally the easiest thing in the world. If you don't have live plants, get some. They hold more water and for way longer, which helps keep humidity up as well. Do you have a picture of his entire enclosure?

Also a slightly cheaper option is a CliMist. Is literally the same thing. Coastal silkworms sells them. I've bought mistnozzles from them bc it's free shipping over 10$

Interesting you mention auto mister because 2 vets told me hand misting twice a day is enough humidity. Do you agree? Took my Jackson to 2 different vets last week for a puffy lower eye. One vet drained it but it's returning. Maybe he is too dry?

Problem is a lot of vets have little experience with Chameleoms. They are like no other reptile. Much more sensitive and needy regarding care. That's why anyone knowledgable will tell you to find a vet with a good deal of experience with chameleons and different species. There are a few vets on this forum who own Chams.

Thank you. I posted a thread asking for any information regarding Massachusetts Cham vets. There must be someone in this state who knows about them. In the meantime, waiting for stool sample to come back Monday, new light from Light your Reptiles put up today, and waiting for spikes to hatch. Will most more often, and use the supplement I got from Light Your Reptiles. Appreciate you chiming in.

Which fixture did you get? I just got the quad for Christmas. Plants are already growing fast. Buddy's colors look better. You will Love those lights I promise!

Looking the health clinic go to Area by area vets maybe you can find one in there

And I think if you switched over to a screen cage 4ft minimum, you would do much better than the bird cage. That or put bath liner each side to keep humidity up as well. I'm pretty sure bird cages rust very easily.

I think the double. It was $98. The Cham is really my son's, but.... I think it's easier to breastfeed twins than take care of him LOL

Drainage, and shower curtain liner. I have a Reptibreeze, bought the tray of Dr. Foster and smith for 20$. It's meant for the Reptibreeze. Drilled two holes in the middle, with a table underneath (popped the glass out) and the water drops into the bucket. Also if you put a brick into a ziplock bag, it will bow the tray and bring the water down to the drain. Petco has the Reptibreeze cage s
For 65$ still I think. Let me check. If you are interested, I can send you links.
A reptile breeze. So you think it's too dry?? Hmm.. mister time. How do you prevent mister from leaking?[/QUOTE

You're help is so appreciated!! Thank you. My son, who's 24, took him from a friend who couldn't take care of him. His friend was told by the place he bought it that they were "easy"! Thank God for this site, as I have received more info from you guys than 2 different vets!!
