T-Rex

Hello All,

I got my panther cham when he was about 4 months old, he seemed a little nasty than didn't want to be handled would hiss , mouth wide open tried to bite. He is just short of a year old now , and he seemed to calm down much better than he was, still so so when trying to handle. You can get him out of cage but than he moves very quickly trying to get back in off your hand/arm will not sit still.
Anyways for the past few weeks he has been eating like crazy, and than I will see him go down the tree to the river rocks and i hear his teeth scrapping them while trying to pick them up.
I wanted to give him a shower, fake tree in the shower and mist . I tried to pick him up and had much trouble he was like a little t-rex very very nasty but managed to get him in shower. Removing him was no fun either to put back in cage. So the next day I said lets do this again and had to wear gloves his bite got much harder since a baby. I got him in again and than when I had to return him to cage again no fun, like a t-rex wanting blood. I noticed once i got him in cage his Hemi's were out and there was sperm coming out, I am wondering if this is why he was moody ?

Wow, there are so many things in this post to comment about, I dont know where to start

For one, if he flashed you, hissed, bit, that means you excitted and stressed him out big time.
You do not need to remove him from the cage to shower.
Just use a spray bottle ( large one) with the spray nozzle adjusted to coarse spray, and spray him from above, like rain.
The water should be warm (not hot) or he will run away.

Your cham obviously stresses easy, so avoid anything that could cause it.

Yes I have a mister hooked up but I really wanted to just give him a nice warm shower while on the tree for awhile, I use to do this with my other chams back when I had them in late 90's early 2000's , I just recentely got back into reptiles and my chams back than were very docile they didn't mind being handled etc... This one is a handful just very nasty for the most part.
