talk about cold

Hey all.just said I'd fill yas in.I had my first snorkel of the year today.visibility was zero and the temperature was about 7 degrees c I have no idea what temp the water was bit I can tell you it wasn't in the least bit pleasant.had to walk out for ages to get water up to the waist aswell.overall not a great day out.happy to have the first one done and logbook stamped all the same

How are the conditions in Ireland? I used to snorkel off Long Island, but the water was pretty mirky. The farther down towards the equator I got the better the water. Just wondering how the Emerald Isle would be. Did ya see anything cool? (Used to get some carribean fish caught up in the gulf stream and never knew what you might find!)

We saw nothing the other day.it was zero visibility everything was brown.the tide was against us too.I'm just trying to get the club snorkels done quick so I can go scuba diving.I have another 3 left to do.I'm going to wait for better conditions though.but later on in the year you get some strange fish fin whales if you go out a bit further.a few places have dolphins that are kind of resident.and close to home we have a seal colony some will actually swim with and nibble on your fins hoping to invest in a dive camera in the near future so you can see what I mean. the west has very clear waters but I've never been out in them.

My hubby is a dive master, I love diving but can no longer dive. Because of my asthma there are concerns I might not be able to breathe. We did a lot of diving off the southern Calif coast, but tried to go out to Catalina Island when ever possible. Both Mexico and the Caribbean were also great diving.

Sorry you can't dive any more Laurie.its a great hobby.I'm only a trainee still so its pool training and 20 metre dives for me.you must miss it.although at least you got to experience it.its not something a lot of people try. Im lucky there's a lot of ship wrecks near my area so there's something interesting nearly every time.id love to dive in the states too.warm water would be a great luxury.and maybe make my way down towards pearl harbour I think that would make some great diving.
