Amazing chameleon!!!!! pretty sad circumstances though i believe to have heard the name of this this species but it my first time actually seen how they look like.

Calluma tarzan, it is very sad indeed... They are such beautiful chameleons.
I highly doubt anyone has these, legally that is....

Nobody ever has, I guess. My smiley didn't work from the iPhone. Sorry to confuse you. Unfortunately mankind I too greedy to protect the ones that don't seem to generate money in the first place. More frightening than the Tarzan is that all of the 100 are due to human interference. There was only once in history of this planet a top predator who was so powerful that he killed all his prey and got extinct thereafter. I think to remember it was a wolf in Canada and Alaska millions of years ago.
We will be the next top predator to go extinct if we continue like this. Imagine how much extra energy we consume for keeping Chamrleons in non chameleon climates. Where does the additional energy consumption come from and even more what does the consumption destroy.

With so many imports coming in from Maddy, how come we haven't seen these guys? There are lots of keepers/breeders throughout our community that could probably assist in giving these guys a fighting chance to produce numbers.
Most species were banned from export from Madagascar in 1995. The only Furcifer and Calumma species there were allowed to be exported since 1995 until this year were Furcifer lateralis, F. verrucosus, F. oustaleti and F. pardalis. Starting this year they are going to be letting a limited quota of F. campani out too but thats it at the moment for these two genera. Also, our track record with the other species is anything but impressive so there is little to support the notion that we would do anything but further deplete the wild population by bringing them into captivity.

I actually have got some good news about Calumma tarzan. The area where they are from is going to be conserved and made into a National Park or Wildlife Preserve. If I can find the article that I read I'm going to post a link.
Probably everyone's best bet at eventually working with this species is too support conservation of this species in the wild. Once (restorations and expansion of their habitat has happened) their habitat is sustaining a healthy population in the wild then it makes sense to considering importing these guys. The new CITES system for updated quotas would have to be convinced through studies that the population are stable and not in immanent danger then similar to Furcifer campani new Quotas could be made. Anything before then would just be animals going to waste. Captive breeding programs attempting to sustain populations of Madagascar chameleons after the 1995 ban were not successful for any species.

Ive been trying in vain to find a pair of these for a few years now! lol
Aparrently, a guy in Germany used to breed them, but I personally think he was just BS'ing me.
