Temp and Humidity for young cam???

Can someone advise me on the correct Temperature for a young cam's basking spot and what should the humidity be? Also what about night temperatures as I am in the U.K Im not getting my lil chap until the new year he is a veiled chameleon. I have got a digital thermometer and digital Hygrometer. with seperate probs for each. Any advice would be really appreciated.

80 degrees F in the basking, 27 degrees C. 70 for the ambient, 21 C.

Humidity should be about 40-60% when dry, 70-90% when misting and it should hang around 60-70% for an hour or two after misting.

There is a lot of really truely interesting data there. Of peticular interest to me is the data about the sheilding effect that a screen enclosure (like Zippy now has) has on the UV output. How much UVB, and how much UVA light does a Panther chameleon from Ambilobe need ?

I am trying to decide if I want a Repti-sun 5.0 or a 10.0. I think that since the enclosure is a 2x2x4, I would want a 24" tube in a fixture. The next question is weather or not to place the fixture in the top of the enclosure, (like I have seen done a lot) or centered on the back wall a few inches down, so he can find shade above the fixture.

I have a lot of ideas, and I am interested in what you have to say.

I would not put the light in an area where he can be above it. Can you climb above the sun? Most people use a 5.0 just fine on aluminum mesh, but in a flexarium a 10.0 works just as well. If you do go with a 10.0 raise it a few inches above the screen just in case.

Also, if you buy a 24" tube you cannot place the fixture horizontal with the door without the fixture hanging off. The only way it will fit all the way on is if you make it go from corner to corner.

A UVB range that has a lot of "traction" in the chameleon community is 25-50uW/cm2. You usually get that from an 18" Reptisun 5.0 at 6"-12" away from the baskng spot. An 18" tube in a reflective fixture works ok on top of a 24x24x48 aluminum (1/16"x1/16" screen weave) enclosure. Aim it directly downward, close to the basking spot.

OK, an 18" Repti-sun 5.0 will do the trick.
