TEMPERTURE???????!!!!!!!!

Hey, I was looking for some similar advice. I have a panther in a 90x45x90 viv. I have a T5 canopy and a dome with a 150w basking bulb on a Evo Microclimate thermostat. I get mixed advise on ceramics/basking bulb. Would I be better off just using a ceramic for basking to prevent any light at night? It's on a dimmer at present and set to 60f on a night but does light up now and then.

They do not need heat at night at all when you have them in the house. A temp drop in the night is good for their metabolism and a light of any kind will disrupt their sleep. They need a good night/day schedule to help them set their internal clocks and regulate hormone levels. A bright basking spot for the day is great. Although, with. 150 watts what temp is your basking spot at and for what kind of Cham? 150 is quite strong.

I have a panther chameleon. Basking spot is set on a multiple timer, starts in the morning around 80, then hits 90, drops down to 70 on an evening then down to 60 overnight. So would a ceramic be better for the basking spot? Just unsure as they obviously don't produce light, I have a T5 in though.

No, a day light bulb is fine. Mine stays about 82-84 all day since he is still small. I will be upping it soon to between 85-90 when he reaches about 9 months.

Lights on during they day...everything off at night and you are good.

Check out the care sheet for panthers under the resources tab. Good info in there.
