Temps for outside

What Should the temperature outside be for the chams to be happy for a day? I would think 80-88 degrees outside with high humidity would be good? i'm in kentucky and wanna get them out as soon as possible .

My panther go outside for a day here in michigan when its in the upper sixties and above. When it's in the upper sixties I have a basking light for them on top of the cage but they never use it much. I only put them out when it's that low if its sunny all day. Then they are actually warmer than the upper sixites like the air. Anything seventy and above seems to work well for my chams. They love being outside even if its a tad on the chilly side. Besides if the ambient temp was 88 my panthers would be chugging water all day.

At those temps I would only that them out for short periods of times because they would need to be able to cool down.

You don't want to put them directly in the sun at those temps mainly the high 80's in mid day or late evening. If you have a shade tree that partial sun light comes thru that would be fine. They need a constant water drip and air flow. Check on them often to see if they are showing signs of heat stress. I would think a few hours of direct early morning sunlight would be fine too. It's not as hot and they would benefit from the UVB. Again, keep a close eye on them.

of course i'll probably just be sitting outside staring them down for their first days of the outdoors in forever lol, so as long as they got some shade and ill take their drippers out and spray em down as well . would it be better for just a few hours in the morning or all day?

Depends on how the day goes but definetly early morning is the best. If you have a nice breeze during mid-day with some shade and a drip and temps aren't in the 90's I'd say your good to go. Again keep a close eye on them.

Do you have a temp gun or a way to check the temps? Normally it is much hotter in the sun. They too get UV in the shade.

yes i do jan , temp gun, thermometer with probe, pool thermometer, food thermometer . tons of ways to tell, so it just really depends on the day goes and as long as the dudes are well hydrated etc.

If you take the temp gun out with you, you'll be fine.

awesome. my panther has the option of getting up to 89-91 inside but he always seems to stay in the 70's so i guess it's already time for them to go out .

89 to 91 is too hot for a panther. It's recommended to keep tham at 85.

I do agree that panthers as well as all chams really like it cooler than we think they do. Keep in mind too that they are cold blooded animals so warm to us is hot to them. That goes for misting, showers and outdoors. Semi shady areas are the best.

the only way he can get to those high temps is if he hangs on the top of the cage for a long while lol, and he never does, the temp gun usually reads mid-high 70s on him, he's a beauty . Ill post pics after his next full shed...which idk when that'll be.

I have a veiled and a panther, same set up outside, Tall black net cages.
Veiled always up top, LOVES the heat till I have to move him. Panther always mid of the cage in the plants. Big difference in the temps each wants.
They are regularly sprayed, panther loves it, veiled moves away.
I swear my veiled would just cook himself if I didn't move him, he will always regulate to be warmer, never cooler. I never worry about the panther, he regulates himself with no problem. Having the tall cages, really gives them enough space and lower level shade to regulate. I live in Los Angeles, so I will only be letting them out for morning sun when we hit summer.
