its highly not recommended, what you can do however is separate the enclosure with a piece of wood or something, as long as the breeding pair can't see each other they should be good
 
I like Bridge of Faith's answer... if it's parrots...then maybe, hamsters? Sure...it's a bit small for humans....chameleons? probably not.

With rare exception pairs that are going to be bred should be together only for the breeding experience. They do not need to get to know each other before.

If you've ever seen the video of the San Diego Zoo's pandas breeding it's a lot like that: They've never been together, there's opening between enclosures, that has bars...the day she doesn't charge him growling, they raise the bars and within about 15 seconds, less than 5 feet from the opening, a baby panda is being made.
