The Dreaded Box of...........

Try using white roaches. I've never had a chameleon refuse a white or light grey roach! They just can't refuse them for some reason. That's how I get picky babies and adults to take them. That and I flip them on their back so they kick their legs around. If you put them on a spoon they have a really hard time flipping back over without help.

Try only tub-feeding for a while and he might figure out that anything that moves in there is food.

hes had a cup of for food for about 4 weeks. he just.... wont. i have to fr the bugs to know hes eating.

They have tongs with rubber dipped tips.

If he's healthy, denying food for a few days won't hurt. He will eat when he's hungry. I think it's actually a good idea to do it every now and then to mimic the wild.

he gets fed every other day to every two days, based on my schedule.

he just... doesnt seem to care about th ecup.

im going to try a bigger cup, and see wath happeens.

I'm trying to convince my hubby to go with roaches and he said no. Maybe when we move into our own place we can start a colony

Have you tried a milk-jug cup? My babies seemed to particularly like those (as did my other small chameleons.)

haha! i probably shouldnt really, as im in an apt building.. but what they dont know, wont hurt me.
lol.

all roaches?

The ones that are legal are the ones that will infest your home if they get out ... I believe one of them is the "German Roach".

I don't want to muck around with the varieties ... I've heard a lot of good things about Dubia's being nutritionally valuable, which is why I really want them. If I could phase crickets out completely I would ... but it's the easiest to get here ...

I'm currently in the process of finding out if I can get permits to raise stick bugs, mantids and roaches ... I'm going to start out with silkies though.

Eff crickets .... I hate them for the same reason you do.

"German Roaches" are veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy likely to infest. I remember a longgggg time ago i was living in a building in Brooklyn that was INFESTED with them. I tried everything . Moving helped solve this issue.

It's crazy that they would allow Blattella germanica to be legal!

Don't even get me started man... the most ridiculous ones are 'legal' because they are 'native' to Canada. But the exotic breeds are illegal. <Shakes fist>

I'm going to make a post after I find out more about the permits, because I'm sure other Canadians would like to know.

oh crap! a box of roaches showed up at your door that you are supposed to breed to take the place of the dreaded ninja crickets who infested your apt?

Lol! Not quiet! ;)
Just a roaches infestation! .. But it was just a dream... Phew!;)

You cand find quite a few reptile keepers that have dubia in Canada. You just have to look around.

plastic shoe box

Ok so my iccky creepies are coming in tomorrow, will a plastic shoe box keep them in? I know the crickets jump right out I swear I have cricket Olympians they high jump more then 72 times their height now GRRRRRRR
Oh and if I am feeding a 1/4" cricket to a baby what size IC can I feed.
( papaya beetles just keep thinking papaya beetles...)

All I can say, camimom, is you are a better woman than I....

Haha. i swore them off for a very long time. but the loose crickets, like 200+ of them... just couldnt do it. and now.. i think almost my whole cricket bin got loose. i barely have any left to feed.

i just started with them... hopefully someone wants to eat them soon.
